WOW Ramirez didn't wanna get his ass kicked!!! Amazing that a fighter 9-0 can get fighters with 25 fights to step down in fear of lossing. rofl this is classic, I am so rooting for Gamboa because he is what boxing needs.

Jiminez is no step down from Rojas, realistically, he's bigger than Rojas and then the undefeated guy could have been a good one or a bad one.

All three fights on that card are serious steps up for the prospects. I can't wait for that card.

Alfredo Angulo vs. Richard Gutierrez (wins over Teddy Reid and Jose Varela, only loss was a very close fight against Josh Clottey)
James Kirkland vs. Eromoselle Albert (easy wins over Daniel Edouard, Yory Boy Campas and David Banks)
Yuriorkis Gamboa vs. Darling Jimenez (wins over Mike Anchondo and Jose Soto, only losses were to Fernando Trejo and MA Huerta)

All three are taking on serious B-level fighters for the first time. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see at least one upset there. Every fighter on that card can be fun to watch. This is about as good of a televised card as I can remember that doesn't involve anyone who's fought for a belt.

Dumb question - has anyone ever won a title with a female trainer before? If not, might Kirkland be the first? He's probably not world class, but with as weak as 154 is, he could grab a belt. I'd favor him against Verno Phillips, at least. Not sure he'll beat Albert though. If Albert fights inside like he did against Edouard, he'll get KTFO, but if he fights smart like he did against Campas, I can see him winning by UD.

Jiminez is actually a tough out here. I don't know if he is a big step down from Rojas, if a step down at all. The impressive thing is that Gamboa is really on the fast track here and has been impressive in doing so.

I think Jimenez is a step down from Ramirez, not Rojas. But then again, Ramirez won a robbery decision against a guy Gamboa already beat (De Jesus). Either way, to a Roy Jones-like prospect like Gamboa, B- level fighters and below all get destroyed the same way unless they have great chins.

Gamboa's hype on HBO should be crazy. Their #1 hyped prospect is Berto and what they're getting now is a million times better than Berto could ever be. They should play a 1 hour documentary about his life before the fight.
