I love the HBO commentating team, Showtime commentators bore me and always seem to try not to offend anybody.....
HEYYY, HI NECKY... Hey read the above post (#15)... u don't have to watch.... though we know ur problem is u don't like criticism towards anybody who's from the black race... It's a'ight, it is understandable.... Then again, u should be a bit more open minded.. I mean, just sayin'.
I just wish they'd get rid of the round by round compubox stats. They do influence how the HBO guys see fights, they seem too trusting in them at times.
I say keep Manny Steward on, add Jenna J, Geoff Cianni, and Chauncy Welliver. Lampley is a woman beater who could not even take Jenna J. in a fist fight. Larry needs to escape back into the dementia ward. Roy Jones is ok but Welliver would be better. That other weasle nuts Kellerman is the worst of the bunch. He is a poor man's Jim Rome.
Hey...did Michael Buffer during the intro say that Barker's name was Baker??? I swear I heard him say Baker!:yep
I enjoy Sky Sports commentary and Showtime the most, HBO less so. Merchant is too slow delivering questions and opinions, Lampley is very biased towards the 'name' fighter. And the 'bang bang bang' thing in the Clottey Pac fight was mental. I like Manny steward, Harold and RJJ, but still find Showtime stronger, more well rounded and I tend to agree more with how they are scoring the fight.
They should switch commentators to retired boxers like rjj and trainers just like what NBA is doing. The ones who know about the game the most should be in there.
Commentators with asses for heads are a ****... but it doesn`t mean anything in the grand scale of things, especially were someone gets stopped or loses by a nile/amazon wide margin.... personally when rewatching a close fight I press the mute button, it really does help a fair bit tbh. :good
I like Lampley but he miscalls LOTS of punches. Considering he's the equivalent of the 'play by play' commentator, those miscalls are unacceptable. I respect Merchant to the point where I'm indifferent on whether he stays or goes. I Love Roy. Rather him in there than Stewart who often seems to contradict himself.
I swear, last night Lampley credited Sergio with a body punch that was clearly up around Barkers neck/head. He does that too often.. 'makes me question his ability to even correctly watch a boxing match. The announcers gave Barker some credit, but it was a bit backhanded, and they didn't give him any rounds, except for maybe one round (I gave Barker three or four rounds, starting early with the 2nd or 3rd round). Not one of their better efforts. Sergio was actually bloodied up pretty good, shook up here and there, and he didn't look so pretty (no homo) post-fight.
C'mon we all love to watch boxing. I guess I have more hbo memories, but Showtime and hbo are equal as far as im concerned. I have Io and catch Some cards on Chan 192 a latin station. I always respected Larry because he believes in his opinions and he asks the questions that nobody wants to Hear, the questions that should be asked. I do agree hbo should have kept lewis. Max is great his voice I find a little annoying some times but he's solid. Roy has gotten better. Foreman was a piece of work when he was on, a true Whacky sense of humor. I missed faceoff though comments?
I've heard Lewis' recent commentary (notably the Macklin-Sturm fight) he seemed a lot better, more relaxed and spoke quite clearly. I was surprised.
