    Whats up eastside boxing
    age 21
    height 5'11
    weight 160lbs
    orthodox fighter

my shape is not the best but i came down from 197 lbs since september of 09.

    Equipment i have

    16oz leather everlast gloves(ehh)
    14oz everlast protex3 gloves(ehh)
    title wraps
heavy bag-70lbs(would like a bigger bag)
    jump rope
    restistant bands
    pull up bar
    dumbells -up to 25 lbs
    ringside head hear
    bench

looking to buy double end bag and a pair of reyes or grants for sparring. and mitts.

wanna move up in weight to 167 possibly 172,need help getting there.
my training is pretty mediocre but i read the beginners guide and applyed some of the tactics from there.

    But for now its

basically all roadwork 1-3 miles a day ,shadow boxing, foot drills, heavy bag and sparring outside of the gym.

I currently dont have the funds for a gym ,so i stick to jail house work outs ,dips, crunches, burpees, pushups, chin ups, pull ups etc.

    I have a few questions

1- is it ideal to bulk up first then cut to my Weight goal? Or is it possible to gain lean mass muscle and train in boxing at the same time? all in the same 7 day schedule?

2.Even though boxing is aerobic and cardiovascular based,is it better to maintain a lean cut build ,opposed to more of a muscular one (hence andre berto, rjj, holyfield, pacman,)

3.and are supplement drinks and protein drinks good? If so any recommended brands ?

any advice for the time being will be appreciated

Forget about moving up in weight.

You should introduce more anaerobic exercises. Sprints, intensive shadow boxing etc.

On the subject of protein I dont see any harm, but if i was in your shoes i wouldnt do it except for post workouts.

Thanks for the advice,I have a question though going off of your recommendation,it seems like i will be cutting more weight due to more intense cardio,so in the process of adding anaerobic exercises should i just stick to the basic prison work out and just increase my nutritional intake? I do notice my body being more cut after the last 2 weeks of my new work out plan and i have lost body fat %.But i want everything to be per portioned.

Anaerobic work doesnt necessarily make you lose weight. Do not confuse anaerboci with cardio.
In the last few months ive done alot of exercise, a lot of anaerobic and with the protein shakes ive put on 5 kilos.

Im not sure why your so keen on puttin on weight anyway, bare in mind this will mean facing bigger punches. Not only this, longer reaches too and itll be likely your opponents have reach advantage.

Thats true i just feel lanky even though i know it works to my benefit being taller ,as far as facing harder punchers ive sparred with novice heavyweights and cruisers, but of course competing is a whole other league and every lb counts ,to my knowledge anaerobic is oxygen deprived? cycling, swimming, running, strairs, jump ropes, intervals, climbing or am i wrong?

Yes that sort of thing, where your body cannot intake enough oxygen for what you are doing and so creates a debt. It is what happens in boxing, where fights are at a high pace and in bursts so it is very important you ttrain this system.

Also bare in mine the more muscl you put on the more that muscle has to be serviced with oxygen. Ultra muscular guys gas fast.

You are not lanky at all anyway, I am around 140 and 6'1 and Ive been putting on weight.
