hi everybody im new to boxing and was wondering how to start training fitness wise. im 14 and live in a rural area so i don't have access to any gym at the moment but i want to get in better shape. any help will be appreciated. :?
Study film. Shadowbox the best you can while the fights go on so you can rest when the round ends. Get yourself a Swiss ball (physioball) and learn how to use that. Put up a heavy bag or double end bag or whatever you can. If you can't, stick to shadowboxing and don't try to pattern yourself after anyone yet (or ever), just observe as much as you can about footwork. Run, shadowbox, use the ball, do anything that challenges you physically.
Run distance and run sprints. Start running 2-4 miles, and for sprints, run 2 miles, but sprint for short bursts at a time while jogging in between sprints. Dude just get out of breath and get tired. Look up how to calculate your THR (target heart rate), and go from there if you're looking to increase your vital capacity. Work in the 75-85% range. Push it further only sometimes. You'll be in shape very soon.
Great advise!!!..Run and then run even more..:good I have a son thats 15 and just starting out in boxing...within 6 months he is leaps and bounds to what he was when he started and it all starts with his diet and running!:thumbsup
