May I remind you that Jeff said that BEFORE the fight? Talk is cheap. Lacy's career is finished. Do we need to go on?

The quote was: "If you look at his fights, you wouldn't call him a slapper?"

He also said he'd knock Joe out and that there would be no 12th round bell.

Yeah has anyone ever talked near as much **** to Joe as this? He is showing Calzaghe no respect right now, but when the fighters get in the ring even if they were friendly before the respect goes out the window.

Joe landed about 450 punches on Lacy and Jeff went the distance. Calzaghe is an average puncher at best at this point in his carrer

I would be suprised if we even see Hopkins really stunned

He doesn't box to KO people these days. Nor would you if there was a huge risk of breaking your hands. I am sure he can still hurt if/when he needs to.

Then you agree there is no steel behind those brittle hands anymore.

People forget that Hopkins is older and further from his prime but Calzaghe is past his peak as well he is not a KO threat like he used to be.

No, I believe Joe can punch but it's not worth risking injury unless he really has to, IE: when he's in trouble. Which is not very often. What I'm saying is the power is there if he needs it but he has to be careful.

Correct, that is the right quote. Lacy's career is finished alright. No need to go on with what Lacy said before the fight.

But Calzaghe still slapped Lacy do death and that Manfredo stoppage by Terry O'Connor is not the single time that has happened. Woodhall, Sheika and even Brazilian Luciano Torres were all stopped when tryin to punch back - that combination of non-stop slapping and british referees has been proven deadly for Calzaghe's best interest.

Joe was never a one punch KO artist, though he was much more heavier handed when he was younger. I think a career of hand injuries has took the sting out of some of his shots. He doesnt box to stop guys though, he speed, combinations and workrate are his main asset.

I wouldnt let joe smak you took many times on the chin though as he CAN hurt you!

Sheika fight was stopped because he had badly cut up eyes. if the fight had gone further he would have looked like a hamburger.

Woodhall was battered and didn't complain at all about the stoppage. He even nodded to Joe as if to say "yeah, you got me", and also, during the post-fight interview he admitted he was finished.

Manfredo would have been out of there within minutes anyway. You cannot stand there and not throw punches back. If the ref sees this, it's his duty to protect the fighter recieving such punishment. Had he not done this, that ref would have been criticised anyway. Does anyone honestly think Manfredo had a snowflake in hell's chance of beating Joe? He was there because HBO wanted him to be, not because he should have been or deserved to be.

Another thing: Floyd also has brittle hands these days. We still know he can bang if/when he wants to. Nobody says **** about that, though.

Joe is no Floyd, and Hopkins is better than any opponent Floyd has ever gotten in the ring with.

Sheika was disgusted and pushed the referee back as he intervened but he was caught by left counters and was badly cut.

Woodhall was dropped and swirled around on the canvas. He was taking a flurry of punches but when the referee halted the action, he was to punch back just like Sheika. He nodded to Joe cause they're friends and it was a hard battle... He couldn't say much after the fight with Joe, Enzo, Len Woodhall and him all standing side by side - Woodhall is too far a gentleman to complain - but he didn't admit he was done in the post-fight interview, he spoke the least he could about it. Now he can't speak cause he's working for Setanta and is a major Calzaghe supporter.

Manfredo was about to punch back and that was a disgrace - O'Connor didn't protect Peter, he just reacted by impulse and showed he was not able to control it. Manfredo is a bum and he had no chance - so why was he given a shot at the WBO SMW Championship of the World, or Evans Ashira, or Tocker Pudwill, or Will McIntyre for Chrissake?

I'm not sure why this is relevant. I didn't say Joe is Floyd, I was merely talking about hands.

OK, if you see it like this, that's fine. I don't think those stoppages were particularly unfair. Had any of those guys actually stood a chance then I would maybe think differently about it. Calzaghe outclassed them all.
