id rather see the FIRST 30 SECONDS score the most points. both fighters are 'rested' and are more likely to produce more power shots. ....more kos.

What About increasing the number of boxers in the sport? What is it about 90 people?

Does Australia have anywhere near enough boxers to fill these wishes? If so, why haven't we heard of them? Reckon something like this is a good idea if there was already a thriving boxing scene and the second tier fighters were struggling to get a foothold.

I think what we do have to do is start thinking outside of the circle.
We have to think, Variation. Speed & excitement.
You only have to look at the football codes to see how short the attention span of the fickle sporting public is.
If it needs to be 2 minute rounds. Audience participation. EG. Public judging. FOTN voting. etc.
We can't live in the past when we are surrounded by competitive technology. We have to be part of it.
That doesn't mean that traditional National championship etc wil become redundant. The cream will rise to the top.

Matt Ropis came up with a great idea I thought.
He suggested that a few volunteers send clip boards through the attendance (At the fights) & just get email addresses, to form a sort of fight club so that promoters managers trainers etc. could send them newsletters, updates, & schedules or anything of boxing interest to keep them involved as fans, of which, no doubt, some will get a little more interested & involved in the game.

I think the most fundamental change would have to be unifying the game at the core level.
Leave the competition to the fighters. Fights proposals through an indepentant negotiator who does not set purse & conditions but organises card proposals etc.

It's all about basic change IMO. Nothing complicated, just basic organisation.

Agree with most of what you've written Rodan.

You only need to go to a 20/20 cricket match to see what thinking outside the square can achieve.

No, 20/20 is not a purist's idea of what cricket ought to be. But yes, it fills stadiums.
