As long as CBZ is barely breathing we'll still get these class interviews.

Interesting that in some interviews he has pegged Eckhard Dagge as the hardest hitter he faced. In this one he hangs that distinction on Cyclone Hart.

    Great read.

Was lamotta bullshiting about never running a day in his life?

Tough guy but should have been more sporting when he lost.

VA: Ahh…if there was something I would have done differently I think of all the running I did and wonder if it was necessary. I mean, I ran a lot, which was always difficult with my bad foot. Well, one day I run into Jake LaMotta and I ask him how much he ran. He looks at me and says, (laughing) “Vito, I never ran a ****in’ day in my life.”

Nice one haha ! Thanks for the link Flea !

good interview, I remember the fight with Weston, Vito was winning and after the cut almost stopped Harold who was a slick guy, I remember him and his father. The blood started to flow and there was a lot of blood but Vito made a gallant effort to get him out of there.

Teddy Brenner was a fight fans matchmaker and he put on some great cards, and paid attention to even the 4 rounders, I remember seeing Larry Holmes, and Jimmy Young in separate fights as novices. Teddy was the best I would love to see someone like him around today. I also saw Vito in some wars but he won so Teddy matched him tough but right.

    Amen.

What a job Freddie Brown did with Vito and that skin of his. He had those nasty deep cuts but somehow they would hardly bleed. Incredible. Vito would look like a made up Sly Stallone in the Rocky movies and there would be 8 rounds to go--with Vito's style. Just imagine trying to keep that guy in there for that long facing a sharpshooter like a Hagler back then.
