Should be a good read especially about Bennie Briscoe, I think I remember Peltz saying Briscoe was his favorite Philly fighter.

I’m not sure who the fighters are. I’ll find out tomorrow when I get my copy I guess.

I can’t wait to read this. I’m like a kid waiting on Christmas.

Thanks bro. I'm on it. I used to listen to Russell Paltz on Sunday night on the radio down in the basement exercising. Back in Philadelphia WIP. He had so much knockledge of the sports history. Great story teller.

I'm guessing this is Leotis Martin and I think Sonny Banks.

Thank you for the recommendation. Another one to add to the collection. Also, I see you're the writer of the recent Eder Jofre biography, correct? It was a fantastic work.

I’ll want to get this. Peltz is a character and a great storyteller.

Reminds me of a slightly less shady Al Braverman.

    Al told great stories:

One time he put on a show somewhere and the local or state taxes were taken from the show’s profits. So a heavyweight opponent fell out and he (as promoter) paid himself (as boxer) like $12,000 for a 4-rounder and filled the spot himself. Which happened to be the amount the show profited, so he didn’t pay any taxes, haha.

Also, on the way to the ring, he had a robe and put his hood up and wrapped it around his face so people wouldn’t realize he was fighting. Someone in the crowd knew him and yelled out, ‘I know that’s you, Al.’ And he responded: ‘Shuddup, it ain’t me.’

EDIT: I ordered it. Should be here Friday.

    Arrived today.

Will dig into it starting this weekend. Pretty hype for this — glad to see it’s a hefty 300 or so pages!
