New Liston documentary on Showtime is...

    ...the same old thing. I learned nothing new whatsoever. It's well done, but if you've read any Liston books or seen other documentaries, you might be yawning halfway through.

    It was good, but it reminded me of the HBO documentary, from 1996. Some of the same people were in this one, except for the late Mrs. Liston.

    I would assume most people who watch this have no idea who Liston was ... at most they know he lost to Ali because they vaguely remember the name.

    You don’t make a documentary for a narrow group of insiders. You make it to familiarize the masses.

    And if you’re looking for a smoking gun on the grassy knoll, nah. Sonny OD’d himself.

    There were a few theories put out. Much of this seems to come from a recent book about Las Vegas and Sonny Liston. I can't remember the title. Its about 3 years old I believe.
