Hennesey did allot of good with Carl Froch but he dropped the ball in the end. That cannot be denied.

They were lucky that Showtime happened to organize the Super 6, otherwise Froch would have been one of the worst promoted world champs in British boxing history.

 

Tough times for Mick back then, Also from what i heard he felt Carl didn't help him with regards to press. He felt Carl didn't try hard enough to engage the press and would often be non plussed etc. Not sure if true but i remember hearing that somewhere.

Plus as i've mentioned Mick's mum passed away around that time and i got told it hit him pretty hard. So i do have sympathy although the show goes on as harsh as that sounds but loss affects us all differently. That's why i'm chuffed for Mick that he's got a nice stable building again and he's still in game with a TV deal.

I've always liked Mick, Maybe it's cos he's just a fat lad who's promoting fighters . The lad pisses sweat and drinks the fighters water :rofl.

I think there's more to it than we're aware of. A couple of nasty individuals who just had it in for Mick for whatever reason. Certainly that's what he's suggested in interviews.

Getting Carl onto Showtime was good work. He kept him in the belt, he made him good money. It was the screw-up with the venue for Abraham, where Mick had gained "verbal agreement" with the snake-like Sauerlands only to realise they owed him nothing, that put the nail in the coffin.

After that, the lack of UK exposure, the clear lack of a future once the S6 was over, and Mick's own limited funds were just the icing on a seriously mouldy cake. Eddie swooped on in with the thing Carl knew he had no security on post-S6: TV dates and a retirement pot.

It's a shame that, after all the years they came up together, it ended so badly.

 

When Carl suffered his first defeat was he with Matchroom or still Hennesey?
