Nothing wrong with that. High rep light weight stuff, nothing to worry about. Just getting a good muscle burn whilst sweating it out a bit, not exactly doing 5 rep sets for power lifting, seems perfectly fine. Triceps aren't exactly an abstract muscle, don't see what the problem is.
??--You do large volume routines for stamina and longevity--its not him trying to get big at all so why imply that a skinny white guy is trying to get big? If he was doing low sets with heavy weight Id agree with you but thats not what he was doing.:-(
He isn't using very heavy weight and is doing a lot of reps, I do not think it is detrimental. I have seen Hopkins lift weights in training, but it was light and a lot of reps as well. Weightlifting is most detrimental for a boxer when he lifts heavy weight, like in the case of Haye benching 390, which creates too much bulk and adversely affects stamina and flexibility.
yes kegsy, you are right, against mahone i was just standing their to trade like a musclebound brawler
i said it looked like a bodybuilder cause he was using several different exercises to fatigue a single bodypart, thats what you do, smash it to smitherines so it grows back bigger,
I meant he LOOKS like it, not it looks like that's what he's doing. Weights for endurance are pretty pointless, and really what is the point doing hamstring curls and leg extensions for a boxer? Absoultely none, really!
The triceps are what power a punch and Pavlik is a volume puncher so it makes sense to use high volume exercises.
in boxing no muscle is ever isolated, in a straight right the core and the legs are the muscles that are doing most of the work, while the back, triceps, biceps and chest are also involved. want faster/harder straight crosses? work on rotational strength.
