Is he really going by Gomez? That was only a nickname/pseudonym for his father. Real name Armstrong.

 

Watched it last night on the premiere.
Watched Mikeys last fight too against philips it was a good fight although I'm not so sure Philips is a real sfw more like a fw to me. Either way it was an entertaining fight and both lads give it there all.
Nice to listen to him on your podcast and I hope he gets out of the sport what he's looking for.

I remember Gomez vs Arthur well. @littlebrain a huge Arthur fan. It must’ve hurt that one!

 

I never rated Arthur at all and still cannot believe he smiles when introduced as a World Champion when he never won a single World Title Fight in the ring.

I did admire his courage v Gomez though and that was a great fight every minute it lasted - probably one of the best seen.

 

Haha. It was a good one. The thing I remember most clearly is Arthur being put down by a left hook in the final round, then turning round smiling and laughing to the camera, coming over to the ropes and talking to someone in the corner before being dropped twice again. Great commentary, too. Darke and McCrory.

Arthur was a good Euro level fighter. He could have and would have had a better career if he stayed with Peter Harrison and never required such drastic weight cuts/ or gains after weigh ins. I think he used to put on well over 20ib after weigh ins. That can't be good for you imo.

Just watched Lee Selby in a podcast. Said he used to go from 9st weigh in to 10.8 in the fight. Crazy.
