the rights are already paid for but clearly it would attract day-pass subscribers...i doubt eddie is well enough in with sky for them to just ignore that and bung him all the cash.
Where you getting that from? Would be ideal but I honestly cant see it if both fighters are getting in the region of £2million for this fight. Nothing in that article suggests the fight will be on Sky Sports, looks like the article's author has taken a press release regarding Sky's new Day Pass and is hoping against hope it'll be used wrt Froch - Kessler.
If you have a situation where Sky try and do this 6x a year. Mixing the major football matches with a big world title fight it could work really well for Sky. We could see some bigger name fighters coming over to the UK. Also I think punters will be more inclined to watcg if tey have paid for it. So anyone that pays to watch the Champs League will keep the TV on for the boxing.
It depends whether this was a compromise in the first place, if Eddie wanted it on PPV and Sky wanted it on regular Sky Sports.
it cant be as the CL final is at Wembley if there is an english side in the final there is a chace the frich fight could get lost amongst it
That was my first thought but I'm sure the Championship playoff final has been moved, Old Trafford or Cardiff this year? UEFA get sniffy about European final venues being used the week before & after a final. Edit : tell a lie, the playoff final is Monday May 27th at Wembley.
If it was another website I wouldnt take it seriously but Live Fight are pretty good and they have always had a strong relationship with Froch. Have said in other threads, I beleive the Danish/German/UK/US TV is all going in the pot.
Nope, it's on the 27th. Like Df said it's a really fair price as well. A lot of people grumble about ITV's football coverage so getting the chance to watch it on Sky plus a big fight that might otherwise have been on PPV for just a tenner would be appealing.
In that case I hope so, but I'm expecting both sides promoters to be greedy. They know there's a market for this fight, and sky will hype the **** out of it, I'm still expecting them to charge us for the privilege. Edit : If sky sell the day pass as a chance to avoid seeing that ***** Chiles on CL Final day they'll rake it in. I'd give my left nut to get that **** off my telly when the football's on.
