This content is protected This was just uploaded. I've never seen such quality footage of prime Foreman training. And it's uncut. Enjoy!!
Wow thanks for this. Looks like he isnt even using 30% of his power. His mental state is so different than in a real fight were it always looked like he wanted to kill his opponent asap. He reminds me here of the old relaxt Foreman.
exactly, first of all this one was not "prime" Foreman, he was very young, probably he was preparing his fight with luis pires in 1971, George was clearly playing and enjoying the training, he landed 3 jabs that i said "ohh" pretty hard impact, the guy is a natural rock, natural heavy legs, wide shoulders, incredible physical strength. he sparred with liston in this same ring,.i have seen a bit of the footage
He looks much more defensively sound here then he usually did. Nice subtle footwork and even threw a few shoulder rolls in there. Great stuff as always Rez.
Amazing post .. thanks again for another terrific contribution to this forum ... Looks like the same ring he sparred with Liston in .. if that's so this could be around 1970 or so ..
It seems like if Prime Foreman never existed, he lacked the patience and ring iq early and the athletiscm in his older years, still manages to become an atg/hall of famer.
I believe this is Foreman training for Roman. Here, he's focusing on defensive techniques, distance, control, and ring IQ.
no way reznick, you can see clearly in his body and face that it was in his early pro career, for the roman /Frazier/Norton fights he looked even more solid and was a little heavier, his face looked a little more mature, this george was around 21
This was a younger Foreman. If anyone is ignorant it's you. The punch to hit prime Foreman with were right hands. In the case of Ali predominantly lead right hands. It's the punch that won for Ali his bout against George in 74. Obvious from watching the fight and obvious to Foreman...."there were just so many right hands I could take".
Nice find. Interesting that he focusses on defensive technique and countering here. He actually shoulder rolls a right and counters off the roll. Not how you usually picture Big George.
