As a Margarito fan, I hate to say this but:
Much like quite a few other people, I feel the blocks were used many times before.

As a former boxer, whose been wrapped many times, I would know if my coach/trainer was putting something in my wraps before a tournament fight.

I'll ask this.........."Where was Antonio Margarito, while his hands were being wrapped???
Were Antonios hands being wrapped while the rest of his body was away using the bathroom????????

ALL the times I've had my hands wrapped, I was sitting right there talking to my coach or whoever was doing the wraps. If something in the form of BLOCKS were being put under or in my wraps I would know.

""""Perhaps there was some " slide of hand" by Margaritos trainer to divert Margaritos attention, while he sneakily slipped BLOCKS into the wraps.""""
Which would equate to TRICKING Margarito not once, but once for each hand, two times in the same wrapping session, if you will. PER FIGHT.

    This still doesn't wash.
A Tfrainer or anyone else isn't going to get the BLOCKS situated/fitted just right per the fighters liking, in the small amount of time alotted by diverting Margaritos attention.
The fighter would also FEEL the foreign substance being inserted, at some point during the wrapping session, so it would seem , to me.

I believe Margarito knew about this..........that Margarito is lying when he swears he knew nothing of his very own hands being wrapped with BLOCKS.
I believe that somehow that something was worked out behind closed doors ( through lawyers and such) allowing the trainer to take the brunt of the allegations.........thus allowing Margarito to slip by with only a one year suspension.

Be sure of one thing........these events do indeed set up a mega fight.
What boxing fan would not want to see Margarito fight again, knowing he will be closely watched, and will never have another chance at cheating by loading gloves???
    Say a Cotto rematch............
Or a Delahoya vs Margarito fight?
    Berto? Collazo?

People will most certainly be attracted to Margaritos next fight, if for nothing else but the sheer contraversy surrounding Margarito.

Many of us here will say things like, " Oh I'm never watching another Margarito fight"
But we all know that if somehow Clottey called Margarito out and Margarito signed to fight him ( or any of the other above mentioned fighters), we'd all be watching.

I must admit, a Cotto rematch would be very attractive as money and entertainment goes.
Margarito the bad guy who was caught cheating in professional boxing, and Cotto, a previously undefeated fighter who could have been cheated by Margarito.
This after Margarito come off of suspension.
His Comeback fight, if you will.

Nonetheless, I think Margarito is lying and that he knew about the blocks.
I also think this was done before, perhaps many times before it was caught.

My only question that might excuse the idea of him being oblivious to the whole thing is that was Capetillo his trainer since he began fighting?

If so...it's possible this was done for every single fight and of course...fighting at the age of 15, it has become something of the norm and thought of as okay because nobody has said anything about it.

    Or

It could be that Margarito noticed something...asked and Capetillo told him whatever excuse he had and Margarito believed it because he had a close bond with Capetillo and didn't question his methods...but even then, he wouldn't be able to say that he didn't know a thing because he clearly did if that were the case.

We don't even know if there were blocks yet.

Margo's trainer had to rewrap Margo's hands twice - that makes a total of 3 times he had to wrap Margo's hands before the officials were happy with them.

I seriously doubt Margo's trainer tried to wrap bricks, blocks, plaster of paris, whatever in Margo's wraps 3 times.

This little bit of info makes me think the whole block thing has been blown way out of proportion and it was simply a case of too much gauze being used, which in turn would provided more cushioning for Margo's knuckles.

Much like the case where Tito was accused of loading his gloves when he was preparing to fight Hopkins.

I think it had more so to do with what they had already found made them watch him closely while wrapping and made sure everything was by the book...as to not having somebody watch over your shoulder and you just wrap em how you want. They probaly cheated so many times trainer forgot how to wrap.

    on another note...

berto would beat magarito the same as mosely did. Oscar would beat margarito with that little bit of boxing he picked up from sr.
Niether would make a match I would wanna see...Like a Cotto Mosely Fight It was a Bit Boring to me

I prefer to see him fight callazo as that would be the most entertaining fight and more evenly matched

ps. Tito wasnt loading his gloves he was using an Illegal hand wrap method, diffrent from loading, loading would be using a foreighn objects

    1. I am still an AM fan, although I am still feeling pretty let-down about this whole story. If he did load his gloves, then I will probably lose a lot of respect for him.
    2. No-one knows what was placed in his gloves. The whole point is that it was not supposed to be there, therefore it was illegal. It could have been a piece of cheese, but regardless, anything foreign placed in the gloves is against the laws.
    3. AM must have known what was going into his gloves, it makes the most sense. Lennox Lewis agreed, although he could be rotating on Lampley's rod for all we know.
    4. The only saving grace is that it might have been something to protect his hands. I am fairly doubtful about this, but it is a possibility. I am willing to hear any objections from anyone out there who knows a little more about wrapping hands.
    5. The boxing commission should be performing some serious tests:
    a. the make up of the substance used in the wraps: What is the compound? Is it plaster? Is it flour? Is it dried up sweat?
    b. recreating the wraps: based on a) above
    c. attaching those recreated wraps to a machine and comparing the punching force and damage with and without.

Only one hand had been wrapped (and signed by the CSAC who seem to have escaped all liability in this just all round crappy case) - It is yet to be determined what was in that wrap.

Given the amount of tape that was on that hand, I would not at all be surprised if Margaritto genuinly couldn't feel the difference, especailly as all the evidence that I have read has said that the "substance" (sheesh, must be an alien metal alloy) was wet - If it WAS wet and if it WAS a gauze or whatever - I could understand Margaritto not feeling it.

There's a lot of if's - But once again - I'm waiting for evidence to point out what the hell we're talking about here.

And that is exactly what everyone should have done, wait for the evidence.

To me the whole ordeal has been a disappointment. Not only on Marg's side but also on how the media has basically jumped to conclusion without having the facts straight.

Everybody, from hbo, espn to the mexican media, has been spreading the word as if it is fact that it was plaster or a substance of that matter.

By no means am I defending Marg, but this is a case in which the media seems to be manipulated by the popular word and vice versa.

Why would Margo's trainer take the blame if there were no wrong doing? Think about it. He could've easily fought it if he truly believed he did nothing illegal. Capetillo already accepted the fact that he tried to cheat, and you should too.

Yeah, he tried to cheat. But can you or anybody say for a fact exactly what that foreign substance is?

Plaster is some serious stuff. If he had plaster, than he was trying to do some great damage to his opponents. But than again, nobody can say exactly what it was. It's all speculation as of now. Speculation based on he or she said gossip, which most of the time it's not very dependable.

One thing is for certain....if the CSAC though it was plaster, Margarito would have been handed much more than a 1 year suspension.

The term blocks has been mentioned numerous times by Nazim Richardson, because people equate that with something hard.......

......but the reality by looking at just the facts and the amount of time Margarito got in his suspension, it looks like Capetillo inserted some rolled up moistened gauze between Margarito's dried legal gauze.
Apparently Capetillo had premade them beforehand......

Its hard to believe, but I got to question whether Capetillo even knew it was illegal to moisten them, because apparently he was inserting one of those premade pads right under Nazim Richardson's nose.
.....thats where Richardson asked the inspector to unwrap the other hand.

One thing I've got to say though about if Capetillo has wrapped Margarito's hands the same way before with the moistened gauze.....

I'm almost certain it did'nt happen in the Cotto fight....
The Cotto fight was fought in Las Vegas....and according to the NSAC, unlike the CSAC, in Nevada the the fighters must use the gauze and tape handed only by the commision inspector, right before they wrap.
....so there is no way that Capetillo could have been allowed to insert premade gauze out of his bag without the inspector and the assigned person from the Cotto camp seeing this.

The thing about California is that the camps are allowed to use their own tape and gauze......
....when you really think about it, its insane that California was allowing fighters to do this.

From what I understand, the Las Vegas inspector hands the gauze and tape to the trainer and does'nt leave his sight.
Hard to envision where Capetillo could have inserted premade moistened gauze pads or any illegal pads and getting is passed the inspector and the assigned person from the Cotto camp assigned to watch and inspect the wrapping.

The Cotto hardcores are going to be beside themselves, but it looks very much like Margarito whooped on Cotto fair and square!

That is NOT going to help Margarito. Shane has already testified in front of the FBI, and passed a lie detector. You can keep trying to divert the attention to Mosely, but in the end, everyone knows that a clean Mosely beat the ****ing **** out of Margarito.

As you know, I am not a Margo fan by any stretch, but I think he was clean when he beat up on Cotto. Cotto just don't have what it takes to beat Margo.

the only excuse margo could use is that he did not know that what his trainer was doing was illegal. that's the only excuse that could work for him right now. nothing else. his trainer cannot use any excuse at all. the "honest mistake" **** is laughable. how can you honestly try to cheat?

anyway, i really hope margo did not know taht **** was illegal, but im not betting on it.

PS, the wbc defending marga was ludicrous. that's almost covering up for attempted murder
