I think so. They will want to ease him into 160, even as a champion since he still will really be a 154-155 pounder. Canelo is too valuable to Golden Boy. Golovkin could be waiting into 2017. If so, there is a good chance they go for the Ward fight as they watch their guy get older and older. Waiting for Golovkin to jump in the ring with Ward is like watching a guy on a life boat being circled by a hungry shark. You know what will happen but at the same time know it will be entertaining. :yep

exactly, and he doesnt need GGG to prove anything, his resume is already a million times better.

Stevenson in Canada would be pretty big. The thing is, those guys would love to fight Ward whereas Triple G doesn't have that luxury.

What was your point again? You said something about him beating Lee would make him "the only unified champ in boxing", no?

Kovalev already holds 3/4 of the major titles in his division.

He is a unified champion, so I have no idea what your point is, because GGG would be unified after beating the mediocre Lemieux. If he beat Lee, he still wouldn't be undisputed.

I fully understand why Little G's team want to avoid Ward at this time. His fans and team apparently need other excuses though...

Absolutely. Stevenson will be swinging at air, get tired, then get dropped.

    And I totally agree.

Perhaps GGG fans are banking on the fact that Oscar might be too coked up to protect his commodity.

And incidentally, I am not 100% convinced that Canelo beats Cotto in any case - something GGG fans view as a given. (Although I do favor Canelo slightly in that match up).

Do you think GGG would, under any circumstances, wind up facing Kovalev?

I only ask because you're a fan of both, but most GGG fans seem to think Golovkin cuts through Kovalev like butter as a result of the sparring rumors.

Funny thing about a Ward vs Stevenson fight (I find that highly unlikely though) is that they were both introduced to canvas by Darnell Boone. So it's kind of the battle of Boone victims :D

Same could be said about Stevenson/Kovalev. Kovalev was knocked down and most had him winning their first fight.

I'm not sure you understand the meaning of the word "victims" when used in this context.

Now Canelo and Cotto - they are both Floyd victims. But Ward and Stevenson are not both Boone victims. See the difference?
