I sent an e-mail as well.

That list was simply awful, Burns is top15 but no way in hell top 5! Ring has to go back to their old rating panel, otherwise they loose all credibility.

    btw my top 10:
    1. Mayweather
    2. Marquez
    3. Ward
    4. Donaire
    5. Martinez
    6. W. Klitschko
    7. Pacquiao
    8. V. Klitschko
    9. Bradley
    10. Froch

I don't really pay much attention to ring P4P these days, but I can't remember a fighter getting elevated to such a high ranking on such a thin resume as Broner.

That isn't a knock on Broner's ability in any way, but in no way shape or form has he proven himself to be one of the premier fighters in the sport.

Roy Jones was a far superior talent to Broner, but didn't crack the top 5 until he beat Toney. Prodigious talents were spoken about in P4P terms, but they didn't actually earn the ranking until they had quality wins on their record. Mayweather had to go through Hernandez and Manfredy before he got a high spot on the list.

It really smacks of desperation and a need to create the new superstar du jour. Clearly, the Ring have decided that Broner is that guy.

True. They are lining Broner up for the top 2-3 at least, Floyd, Marquez Martinez could very well retire in the next year or two also. Also, why didn't they wait until Donaire fought at the weekend to review the list, nobody much else on the list is fighting anytime soon anyway so its strange that they didn't wait to see Donaire first.

They seem to be setting up Ward for top spot too, although he is more deserving. Marquez beat their num 1 at the time and only goes third from 5-6, Ward beat #10 at the time Dawson who was, lets face it, weight-drained: which is a better win? Also Mares beat the #10 at the time Moreno but he isn't even on the list: Guerrero and Broner get in by neating guys not really in the P4P frame at all.

On a side note, Bradley is ranked as 8th in WW and 9th P4P, doesn't that seem strange? I know he was 140lbs champion, but I find it strange that they say guys like Brook, Malinaggi and Zaveck ahead of him but they aren't near the P4P rankings.

My email complaining about the new rankings got a reply from Ring editor Michael Rosenthal. It read as follows:

'That was the decision of the new Ratings Chairman Chuck Giampa; the editors had nothing to do with it. Here's Chuck's email address:

    Chuck Giampa is this guy:

I've sent the same complaint email to Giampa. Hopefully he replies.

That's a solid list by the ring.

Top 2 are set in stone - though there is less distance between Ward and Mayweather than there ever was between Pacquiao and Mayweather.

3-6 are interchangeable, as are 8-10.

I know you are, didn't think you'd admit it though.Another thing people don't hate him for nothing he makes himself the villain & knows it.Like pac kharma is all he takes with him.He should humble himself for his own good before it's too late & ends like that. He'll be tough to beat the way they manage his career,Anybody is beatable in this business though...
