Wlad dominates today- he's too big and physically gifted.

Wlad fights 1970s fighters- size doesn't matter, Wlad's strength, power, and speed are just run of the mill.


Gotta give the guy credit, he's got a rare blend of boxing skill, work ethic, and physical talent, and he doesn't duck anyone.

When you have fighters like Akinwande, Moorer and Botha as world champions and fighters like David Izon, Lou Savarese, Michael Grant and Vaughn Bean ranked in your top 10 that doesn't constitute a great era.

Take away Lewis and Holyfield and I would take fighters like Povetkin, Chagaev, Ibragimov and Brewster over fighters like Grant, Ruiz, Golota,b etc. any day.

Saverese, Botha and Bean were never ranked by the Ring according to their annual ratings. And using ABC champions back then is no more an argument han it is now. Every era has some bad fighters who get unjustly ranked. This era they just get hyped more with less skills.

 

Yep, but he still fought more talented and skilled fighters overall.

 

Late 90s Tyson made Botha look good for 5 rounds Pulev easily outboxes him from a distance. Tyson has a punchers chance.

 

Povetkin, Byrd, Ibragimov , Chagaev > Golota, Grant, Botha, Rahman, Morrison.

You may not like it but the late 90's was not as great as you make out.
