Yes, the very same one. The Tyson from the first Holyfield fight would have decimated Pulev who has no defense, no power and doesnt throw a lot of combinations. It would have been over faster than the Wlad fight and with the same punctuation mark.

How about the Tyson from the first Holyfield fight?

90s only feels better because there were more high profile fights(as the American networks/promoters didn't turn their backs on the division) But the talent pool really wasn't better.

At the moment i'd favor Tyson, but the verdict is still out on Pulev. Lets see how he bounces back from this loss.

Promoters didnt turn their backs on the division because it wasnt at its lowest oint in MANY decades. I remember when i think it was top rank brought over 7 or 8 Russian fighters in the early 90's with hopes of successfully promoting them, so this excuse doesnt fly. :nono

While i think its a styles match up that favors Tyson i think what you're suggesting is fair.

Promoters did in fact turn their backs on the HW division for a while, that's not really up for debate....... We're not talking about the 90s now, are we?

Have a look at the rings ratings in the early 90's you had people like Lionel Butler, Alex Garcia grandad Forman in their along with such greats as Mike Hunter and Zolkin.

Give me one late 90's year that none of the existing current top 10 couldn't hang with.

They turned their backs due to lack of talent and excitement. If you cant get fans to watch whats the point in investing money?

Some like Povetkin could squeak in, maybe Chageav, but forget Pulev and Ibragimov. Even mentioning Ibragimov is a joke to me. The guys best win is an old Holyfield. His second best win wasnt even a win but a draw with the almighty Ray Austin. :yep

Lol, is that what your inferiority complex tells you? Is that why Ibeabuchi, Golota, Tua and others were able to be successfully promoted? Get out of here with that nationalistic rubbish.

We've already been over the fact that the talent wasn't better in the late 90s/early 2000s. And when good heavyweights fight get made they usually turn out pretty good, case in point 2014.... More heavyweight matchups than in god knows long, and they've been fairly exciting :good
