New rule change to improve boxing - the black towel

How about a red towel if the fighter needs to go to the John?

 

More injuries with this rule.

 

Could you please elaborate on how this would improve, rather then just change, the sport of boxing?

 

Throwing a towel signifies to stop the fight not stop it for a break. You obviously know squat about baxxin.

Plus black is not a colorful color.

 

I think the hot pink towel should be thrown in if you need a sexy lady in the corner to give you a rubdown massage. this will definitely boost your morale

 

The Black Towel sounds like the title of a Sherlock Holmes book

And then there is the possibility of the ref not seeing the towel in time.
"But we threw in the black towel!!!!"

 

I have more ideas...red towel, if the corner thinks their fighter is injured. Then theres 10 minute break to see, if the injury can heal and doctor looks that etc.

Pink towel, if the corner sees illegal punches (back of the head etc.) Then the fighter who did that must do 100 burpees and other guy can rest that time and then the fight is on immediately.

Rainbow color towel, they can just throw it anytime they want, but no more than 10 times per round. Some nice colors and it can distract both fighters.

Towel with spikes...once per round, often used when opponent is close to their corner so its easy to hit. Piercing spikes will slow down opponent.

Bomb in a towel.. once per match only. Boomb Squaad! Small bomb can take away opponents hand or leg, or your own fighter if you dont aim carefully.

I think this makes boxing more interesting and it will be more like a chess match with different towel strategies. "Will they use the bomb now? The other team hasnt used the spikes yet!? etc.." Also, the beautiful colors of rainbow towels will lure in new fans. There will be "Sweet science of boxing, but also the sweet towel art of boxing" xD

 

Or give the ref powers to whip em with a towel.

From a safety point of view, maybe you're on to something. HOWEVER..Boxing is not all about safety, it is an entertainment sport FIRST. And from an entertainment point of view, this is not a good idea AT ALL.

Take a Vasyl Lomachenko fight for example..he's dominating the round, producing beautiful stuff that's great to watch, and then some clown throws in this so-called black towel to end the round. People have been starved of brilliance there, and you can bet there'd be some serious booing going on in the crowd.

The idea that fighters should give up the round is complete nonsense from an entertainment perspective but also from a fighter's perspective. These people are animals, monsters..they don't DO giving up. So although this may seem an interesting idea, it is very flawed.

I don't think this thread was meant to be serious at all, and if it was, then it's one of the most laughable ideas regarding boxing rules i´ve ever heard.

 

We need towels with advertising. Absolute cash cow - am now applying for exclusive rights.
