Just saw an add on Showtime for what appears to be a multi part docudrama on the death of Liston. Starts in November. Very looking forward to this!!

Sounds cool, I like Liston. And I've been interested in the details of his death since I had to explain to God Mother how it happened and I couldn't

What new findings can there be after almost 50 years now? It will almost certainly end up as usual been one of the two more popular theories which were 1. He accidentally took a drug overdose and 2. he was murdered by the mob but it was covered up.

A fascinating character. Always interested in Sonny Liston. I read a book on him a couple of years ago about Vegas and Liston. I found it interesting that Sonny used to run with Davey Pearl the boxing referee. I don't mean roadwork.

Looking forward to this Sonny Liston documentary, both George Foreman and Iron Mike Tyson idolized Sonny's power. Foreman used to spar with Sonny, prior to his death, and Mike used to pay homage to Liston's grave prior to some of his fights in Las Vegas. Sonny Liston, an all time great.

Liston would be a very old man today. I wonder if he would think that in his prime he'd have beaten AJ, Wilder, Ruiz and Fury?

And your theory that Riddick Bowe would lose to Tony Galento will be proven correct too.

This 5 minute clips tells a lot IMO about Liston's demeanor. Seams like a genuine nice guy who probably gained a bad rep with a snarl to accompany his size. Didn't know that he based his success on his win over Cleveland Williams. Once he beat him he said that was when he was confident he could beat anybody.
Liston: "Williams could punch real hard. He had muscles all over. Muscles coming out of his ass."

I've always been interested in Georges relationship with Sonny as they met when Liston was at probably his worst in 1968 the two year misery spiral before his death.
