not by fighting bums, and Winky....but i hope he does, after he beats Winky hopefully he'll fight Bute Kessler-Bute would be great
Hopkins won every round against Pavlik but got a close fight with Winky. (Despite A beats B beats C etc doesnt always hold up) it seems reasonable to think that Pavlik may not be able to beat Winky. When Hopkins just got the win, why wuld anyone assume Kessler is sure to win? That would imply that Kessler is significantly better than Bernard. In fact Winky must be the favorite to beat Kessler. Also look at Winky-Taylor for more evidence. If we think Kessler is going to beat Winky we will be making the same mistake many made by thinking Pavlik would beat Bernard.
Winky hasn't been in the ring in 2 years, Winky is old, Winky is past his best weight, and why bring up Pavlik or Taylor? neither fighter have the same style as Kessler or anything remotely similar and no "we" wont, because i picked Bernard to embarrass Pavlik and i was right, i dont pick fights based on "this guys young and he has KO's" i pick fights based on what this fighter can do to this fighter based on his attributes and style and i think that the fact that Winky's a soutpaw will be the only problem he'll give Kessler, but since Kesslers faster and longer he should be able to work around it, and box him to a UD, not to mention that Winky's so defensive that for a pure boxer Kessler should have no problem taking advantage of that and stealing rounds any time he's on the offensive and no, saying Kessler would win does not mean that he's significantly better then Hopkins, because styles make fights as was proven when Hop lost to Taylor twice, then Taylor loss to Pavlik twice, then Hop dominated Pavlik the only advantage Winky will have in this fight is that he's a southpaw which doesn't work well with Kessler's style but thats not enough to win him this fight.....especially when you consider the ring rust (which was never a factor in Hopkins-Pavlik)
I really enjoy watching this guy fight. Not a typical style for me to take to, but he is very high energy and can get his shots off. I look forward to seeing more of him.
Juanma and Alexeev are the two I'm most excited about. I'd like to see Kessler get some bigger names as well.
Maybe not in 2009, as he's only had five fights. Definitely in a couple of years time, though - he looked great again last night, and has done every time I've sen him so far. Hopefully he keeps his discipline more than his brother (although I still think Paul's got a lot to offer if he sorts his head out).
