Hi, I’m 22 year old, around 11 stone and have recently started doing a little bit of box fit style training as well as resistance and cardio training. I am looking to try and get into boxing at a competitive level. I’m a healthy weight and physically fit. I fully understand it’s too late for me to be world champion but I’d definitely like to get involved in boxing at a more serious level.

What is the best way to get into boxing in a competitive level? Would it be join an amateur gym and train there or maybe take part in a white collar fight?

If anyone has any other ideas or tips for me, that would be greatly appreciated.

I definitely recommend joining a amateur gym. It's not to late for you to go pro if you're serious about doing that. Wilder started at 21 and Anthony Yarde started at 22 I believe. So it's really up to you.

six miles is a lot, but not enough to box. It's not all about miles, strength, endurance, and stuff. Boxing is a craft, you gotta learn it through boxing. With 50 years you can do white-collar boxing if you want to show you boxing skills infront of your friends and family. If you just wanna box, you can spar regularly, I've seen a few 50 years old boxers and even sparred with few of them. One was ex national amateur champion and he was dangerous even past 50.

I am not totally oblivious to the requirements I did my city and guilds in sport at college in the eighties have been involved in coaching and was a marathon /distance /track runner upto my late 30s
I have been following boxing all my life so have seen a thing or two
    1) I ask the question to judge the reaction
    2) I know you all like a laugh
