    Hello all,

I am looking into changing my workout routine, Im still going boxing 3 times a week and putting in roadwork and sprints. But what im currently doing 2/3 times a week is weight lifting.

I am thinking of replacing the weight lifting sessions and using things like a bosu board and TRX suspension ropes to gain more functional strength and also to improve core balance and stability.

Does/or has anyone used any of the above equipment and have they worked or hindered your performance?

    Many thanks in advance

The bosu ball is useless unless you're going to be doing exercises during an earthquake, then it's good practice for that.

TRX is a great bit of kit, but I would suggest making your own and not forking out the £150 or whatever it is these days on something so basic.

TRX is a terrific piece of kit.

I disagree about the ball. There are various (i dont know many) exercises. One i love is the basic pushup try putting your hands on the ball and not fall on your face:lol: or put your knees on the ball and hand walk awat from it and do push ups. The farther out the greater the difficulty. Again i dont know many.

yeh i just watched a really good amir khan training video with Ariza. Thats the sort of thing im going for from now on. think i'll find it more beneficial to the sport rather than lying and doing slow bench presses etc. also my leisure centre gym (not my boxing one) has both the bosu and trx so wont have to fork out for them

Bosu ball is about 1/3 a fitness ball and the other side is flat.

 ive used that before! Oh yeah lots of good balance things with that. Stand on one foot (bubble side UP) and throw a medicine ball into a wall to catch. Decent ankle workout too.

did some of them at the gym this eve, got a few funny looks off people on the treadmills.........but overall it felt good, very hard work. that med ball burpee/squat/smash down on the bag is a killer
