I hope you enjoy this. No doubt the majority of you have already seen it, but I noticed Youtube didn't have it and someone requested it not long ago. Very cool addition to your uploads and I see that the first part has already rattled up a few hundred views.
I have a fight by 18 year old Marco Antonio Barrera and blow out by Michael Carbajal uploading as we speak.
The video quality is outstanding, thanks. In order to get the correct ESB interpretation of this fight, was Duran unmotivated, overweight, weight drained, past his best, green, unfocused, stomach cramps or other?
He was better in the 3rd fight. Better defense, accuracy, variation, boxing ability and just plain better across the board. He had matured as a fighter and just dominated De Jesus with a better variety of skills. He gets caught far more in this fight and his accuracy aint what it was for the 3rd fight.
Great upload. I prefer the 2nd fight. Third fight was an amazing performance but I thought Dejesus was on the downside.
Did you see the finish in the 3rd fight? One of the most brutal finishes of Duran's lightweight reign. Incredible one punch knockdown and a ruthless follow up barrage for good measure. People forget that because Duran showed more of usual style in the 2nd fight it doesn't mean he performed better. The fact of the matter is that he was dropped in the first round, and was caught with far more punches thorughout the fight too. It's probably the more fan pleasing fight with Duran running on full throttle most of the time. But his attacks were better throughout the 3rd fight. Smarter with his attacks, thinking with his brains more, using varied defensive moves, better boxing ability and being way more accurate and controlled. Just a better fighter in every aspect.
Duran v Whitaker. If Duran implemented the same style on Whitaker that he used against De Jesus in the 2nd fight he'd get outboxed and picked apart on the way in, IMO. While he was steaming forward, he was predictable. Not controlled enough to deal with a backfoot and lateral movement master like Whitaker I'm afraid. But the Duran of the 3rd fight is a different animal. He'd certainly make Whitaker miss way more often. He was more oiled and mature as a fighting machine. When he decided to attack, he'd pick his moments with authority. He was using feints more often against De Jesus in the 3rd fight and that would also serve him well when it came to mounting attacks on someone like Whitaker. Just a far more multi dimensional machine who brings more weapons to the table.
I think Duran was anything but predictable in his punches in this fight.Wild, yes, but really awkward and quick as well. Dejesus has become underrated incidentally imo, i don't think he had the best size or physical ability which told when he moved up, but he was a viscious puncher and one of the most complete boxer-punchers of the past 40 years at lightweight.
Not sure. It's a really close one that probably merits a more in-depth breakdown than i can be bothered with just now. Almost certaingly going to be Dejesus starting well and Buchanan coming on really strong circa 10 to 12th.I think the key will be who adapts to the others style best in the middle period of the fight.
They should have banned him from fighting at the weight is what they should have done. Duran is just wading in, fighting on pure drive and intuition, and DeJesus does everything right, but it doesn't matter. Too much chin. Too much grit. Too much of it all, "it all" being boxing.
