Oh dear... that was hard to watch. This guys delusion and stupidity literally has no limits.

 

Maybe its just me, but I don't think Wilder is this intimidating bully character he presents. In fact, I think it is more likely to be his lack of confidence and self-belief who makes him overreact to anyone who he thinks sees through this shell. In the background he alludes to this through his nervousness before fights.

This has obviously gotten worse over the years and I think it is now at the stage where he is seriously delusional.

I thought he had a puncher's chance in a rematch but I think he is just as likely to fall apart completely if he gets hurt again. That is why his team are pushing for a rematch. It is a cashout with a 10% chance of getting lucky again. Fighting anyone else who is no longer afraid of his mystique is a huge huge risk.

 

100% correct. Wilder is a guy who is lacking self-confidence. How does one see that? He is unable to relax or let alone make fun of himself for just a moment. Deontay always takes himself seriously and expects everyone else to do likewise, because that's what low-self confidence narcissists do.

- Fury dances around in a batman costume, then admits to a fast-food addiction and suicidal tendencies
- AJ goofs around in the gym and gets chased by a sparring partner like a bunch of 5-year-olds on camera
- Wlad had in infamous, ultra-corny and cringy 2-finger rabbit ear move whenever a photo was taken
- Deontay? He wants to be tough-guy gangster 24/7. Never down-to-earth.

So who out of these four men is the toughest? It's not Deontay, that's for sure. Tough guys don't need to put up an act to appear tough.

I thought I was reading too much into the whole Wilder persona but it is reassuring to see other people see this too. A really tough guy does not have to be tough 24/7. The ones who do generally have a raft of insecurities.
