[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZtP0k02mmU[/ame] I posted a video of me shadowboxing on here a few months ago, and I got some very good advice. I have been working mainly on pivoting my feet and getting my body more behind my punches. But idk have I made any improvements? Am I getting my body behind my punches any better than the first video? Is there anything else that I am doing wrong or should improve on?
Here's some general advice: - Your elbows are a bit wide. It's good to be relaxed but keep your elbows tight to the body so it takes less effort to block a body shot and you aren't as susceptible to uppercuts and other shots between your guard. - Sit down more, you'll be more mobile and be a more compact target that's harder to hit. Throw some head movement in there here and there. - You sometimes don't get full extension on your punches. Make sure you're extending your straights/jabs all the way so you don't suffocate your own range and distance. - Your uppercuts are the right distance but you should turn your body into them more and drive up. Don't **** it but use your legs and hips to generate power from down-up through the body. - You kind of telegraph your jab. Keep the elbow in when throwing, shoot it straight out and back the same way so you don't get countered. It sometimes lacks a definitive pop, make sure you extend it quick and sharp to get a crisp landing when you use it for real. This goes for the straight as well. These are some things I picked up on. It may seem like a lot but you didn't look bad, you should be able to get better quickly if you use these to your advantage to tighten up. Best of luck.
You look better. You are a bit left side heavy in that you like the hook but everything sets that up. Work the right hand more. You are going bish, bash, bosh but the bosh is the left hook. Try to make the bosh the right hand. I think you got tired!?
Jab looks quick and straight. Right hand is a little lazy. Remember not to drop it down before throwing it, and to tuck your chin behind your shoulder. Hook looks good with the pivot.
You look pretty good. Your rear hand is a bit awkward though. You should touch your curled fingers right on top of your cheek bone. Ideally you should be looking through your hands with your second (middle finger joint) knuckles at your eyebrows due to your chin being tucked. You seem to be a quick pure boxer. With where your hands are a guy would time you and BOMB you square on the side of the head. It only takes one of those. Or rip one to your ribs because your elbows are "out in space" and there go your legs and one arm. A boxer's friend is time so defense is key. Also your feet/stance seems a bit square. Like you just dropped your rear foot back 6. Your front foot should be pointed forward and your rear foot should be pointed out. Like an "L". Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Take a comfortable step back with your power hand foot. Rotate your forward shoulder body toward your rear foot. Point your rear foot out forming an imaginary "L" with your front foot. Lift your rear heel slightly so that you are on the ball of your foot. Then plaster your elbows to your sides and "crunch" your torso down to get the rear hand touching the cheek bone and the front hand knuckle hovering at your eyebrow. Uncomfortable as hell at first but your muscles eventually "get it". Skip some rope. You are fluttering for fluttering's sake and not bouncing with rhythm. The rope will teach you to bounce left bounce right. Shifting your weight as you go. As a boxer, you will be setting traps bounce/step left (jab) bounce/step right (straight) or bounce/step forward (feint) then back (lead left hook) and spin out. You look good. Keep up the fine tuning!
close ur hands into a fist when u punch when u jab ur right hand goes infont of ur face, ur right hand should be "on the telephone" 247 unless ur punching extend ur arms, slow down. dont jump, step.
dont listen to anyone's advice on here. the most important thing is that when necessary you are able to sit down and throw crisp punches with power from the body with proper arm extension. by the look of the video, eventually you will be able to do so... i would not say you are talentless. Otherwise, just continue to develop your own style whether that means fighting off the back foot, staying on your toes or what have you....different strokes for different folks. i like what i see........ as a beginner, you have potential.
Put your elbow in especially the right so you don't get hit with a left hook. Probably sit down on your punches when your actually fighting. Turn behind your jab
