Good point, everytime Cotto attempted to control the flow by imposing his size he was caught with a lighting quick counter....going in straight or coming out straight. This plus his attempts to dodge punches with only head movement and no foot movement.

I can't see it going like the Ortiz fight as far as pacing because I think Floyd will come out a lot more cautious than with ortiz. It will be a chess match early I believe, than middle rounds Floyd starts to show his class and Cotto loses confidence. Ya it would be foolish for Floyd to go out and try to prove he hits hard against someone like Cotto.

i had a conversation with freddie prior to this fight...and he made a statement. "there is no one there to correct his mistakes." that was totally true and the footage was there for the world to see. that guy he had in his corner had no clue. only cotto's instinct save him from being knocked out cold. i thought he had all the tools to beat pac...but he got little or no advice in his corner.

That was probably cotto's biggest downfall in that fight. Funny enough, even with that, cotto busted up pac pretty well considering he (Cotto) lost pretty decisively.

    The other way round.

Mayweather will walk down Miguel Angel Cotto.Floyd has been trying to prove that lately. He's not a runner anymore. But I don't think Cotto is the type that can back up Money. The amount of overrating this kid Cotto gets is over the top.I would be pleasantly surprise if Cotto will be the one on the front foot and still moving forward in the last 6 rounds of the fight.May be Money's power is not all that. But he is surely going to ground down Miguel Angel Cotto.Miguel just doesn't have the work rate, speed power to keep Floyd honest in every second of the fight.Floyd will have all the time in the world to counter his asss. All the time to breath, think and counter his ears off.

Yes it is, thing is will his conditioning hold up? If it does, we may have an interesting night ... if not, Floyd tko's or stops him within 10.

No it isn't. I agree with effective body punching, but the key to beat Floyd in my opinoion is a high work rate and a solid jab. Pressuring him will just result in plenty of counter punches.

    1. Oscar De La Hoya was hit by that straight right..? and still kept on punching...? "I know what Punch your talking about" Floyd Mayweather does not have enough singe punch power to totally disbale a fighter in a instant. "He's not that kind of fighter".....he may well land single big shots on Miguel Cotto..? But it takes more than single pot shots to stop Miguel Cotto in his tracks.

Mayweather has to double up on his punches, and follow up on allot of his work. And this is something, these past years he does not do well..? Manny Stewart pointed this out in his last fight.

In the last round of the Ortix vs Mayweather fight, Mayweather started to follow up on his work..? but he's just not consistant enough or fluid enough when he does for me. He likes to just operate, with sing'e shots and 1-2 punch combinations when he's really set.

He needs more of a offensive bombartment to really break down Cotto in this fight.

  13. cotto's problem has always been his conditioning. he should be working on that like crazy.

All of Cotto's fights are pretty high intensity..? the only real high intensity fight Mayweather was in these past few years was..? Hatton vs Mayweather.

And Mayweather was tired during that fight, and wanting to clinch and grapple more then ever.

This is the difference here, all of Mayweathers fights are at a comfortable pace. Because he makes it comfortable, with his ring IQ and speed of mind and body.

Look back to the Ortiz fight, during the last round Mayweather picked the intensity up and attempted to unleash a load of punches on Ortiz..? after that load of punches, he instantly went on retreat..? for what i think was a rest/recover.

Mayweather's fitness and stamina is abit overrated, he's not really on the level of somebody like Ricky Hatton, i have never seen Mayweather display as much work and intensity as Ricky Hatton. Mayweather is always in great condition, but he does not fight at a really high intenisty..? constant pressure, anerobic endurance.

"I just don't think physically he is that type of athlete"

Mayweather is comfortable and very enconomical.

If Cotto does choose to pressure Mayweather..? You never know..? If could be a different ball game all together if he sustains the pressure.
