Mayweather had enough single punch power to drop Hatton. He also was in no way tired during the Hatton fight compared to his opponent...the grappling and clinching was not because he was tired.
that's the thing about fighting cotto...u are not coming out unscathed. so win, lose or draw....floyd will know he was in a fight. the prison break may just be what the dr. ordered after this one.
Honestly Cotto has little to no chance in this. And even if he does win hes never going to get a decision. Too much is riding on Mayweather and Pacman currently for them to lose any decisions.
Diaz is a great addition to the pro game. Cotto looking good and working hard. His footwork is going great.
That seems like the logical reason why so many people feel Floyd is gonna win and that's simply due to the politics. But just remember, a lot of people don't like Floyd and are getting tired of his antics, so it could work against him this time. Cotto is more of a likeable champion than Mayweather is. If he beats Floyd convincingly, I don't think the judges will take it from Cotto but you never know in this sport. And like you said, the Pacquaio/Mayweather fight is what the world wants to see, so you could be right.
Just seen the vid. It's comforting to know that they seem to be working on what to do when going on the attack, as well as being under attack. The punching whilst moving forwards, backwards and to the sides, is what stood out the most. Seems like they're preparing for what Mayweather comes back with (counters), and ensuring their feet aren't poorly positioned where they may either suffer a knockdown, or allow Floyd to turn and escape. It's gonna' be difficult to put that into practice on the night, though.
this is gonna be a great fight cant wait everyone is saying its a one sided beating however i think its gonna be all in the balance once it goes off.
I disagree. I think Diaz not only works on stragey but he also works on your conditioning too. I think Emanual Stewart was a key element after Cotto loss to Pacquaio and he served his purpose by helping Cotto with his balance, and helping him box more like he did in the ameuter days.
Excellent points. The gameplan does seem to fit into what you're saying; attack, then turn him as he becomes over-eager to land something, then chase him backwards while throwing to exploit that moment of vulnerability and low activity. That's very true, but at the same time, this doesn't look like the meat and potatoes of the game-plan, but more of a conditioning for the basic options they have. They know Cotto is a career pressure fighter, but they also know that movement and angles is something they've emphasized since their last fight. What Cotto does in the pocket, what feints he uses, what combinations he favors, that's all behind closed doors. Roger may watch this tape, just like Diaz watched their sparring footage, and both have their careers out in the open for all to see, but if anyone is going to bring something new to the table, it's Miguel.
I thought Jones/Tarver II was gonna be a onesided beatdown too. I was wrong and I think people will be wrong about this one. Everything has to do with timing and the timing was right for Cotto to take this fight and I think the timing was wrong for Mayweather to take this fight but we shall see. Everything is pure speculation at this point.
I personally don't think Roger is a strageist like Diaz Bogotazo. I think Roger was a better fighter than Trainer and you'd have to say so because if that was the case he would corrected some of the mistakes you pointed out that Floyd makes. Roger uses a certain format in preparation with Floyd and to me it seems like he doesn't change things, if ain't broke mindset. Mayweather Sr. is a better trainer for Jr. and I'd be more worried about him disectring something than Roger.
