Londoner George Groves insists he wants total neutrality and no officials from the United Kingdom for his May 31 showdown with IBF super middleweight titleholder Carl Froch. American referee Charlie Fitch, from New York, has been put forward for the anticipated rematch, with both teams to agree this weekend over his presence as the third man in the ring at Wembley Stadium.
The Daily Telegraph can also reveal that Groves demanded that it was written into the fight contract by promoter Eddie Hearn that no officials for this grudge fight — referee or judges — were to be from the UK.
Groves had also stated to Hearn that if British officials were sanctioned he would pull out of the fight. “I just wanted neutrality from all the officials,” said Groves.

Fitch from NY is a very good ref,bit I would prefer Smoger from Connecticut for this type of match.

Groves & co should consider a ref that might be willing to cut the action and give a standing 8 count - actually give him an advantage.

I think it speaks volumes of the widespread issue with british officials when a brit is asking for no brit judges.

I think Smoger might still be away somewhere spending all the money he made from the Hopkins-Murat fight.

of course not. "British officials" is becoming an indecent expression in the boxing circles.

Groves is afraid of the British stoppage, and rightly so, thier first fight was ended prematurely

Good idea, but keep Laurence Cole away from that fight, he is the worst referee in boxing history...............

St. George makes a good point. I don't blame him. The Brit refs are so risky for a fighter, especially in Championship fights.

Completely understandable. What I've seen from British officials the last decade they're not just incapable in a lot of cases, but also unable to be impartial.
It's a problem with officials in general of course, but the UK is among the worst at the moment.

This is a fight wich can't be ruined by an official again, so Groves is completely right.
