So I want to learn how to box recreationally just to stay in shape and learn some basic boxing. I was thinking of putting up some pieces of equipment in my garage. I know I’m probably in idiot and I kid instructional videos and use them in my garage with the equipment I’m assuming most of you will say I’m wasting my time. I do understand.

Anyway with that being said, what are the one or two pieces of equipment you would recommend for me to get started in a small space. The space I have is about 10’ x 6,Thank you very much.

Weighted gloves (when throwing). Skipping rope (if you've enough room). Maintain focus on your footwork.

By gloves minimum 12oz, hand wraps, heavybag, and jump rope .
Actually you can learn from home. But you need to know what you do and record your self on video from time to time. Like previous poster said focus on footwork first for entire week then slowly add straight punches

12oz gloves, handwraps, heavybag and jump rope is enough. Hell no its not a waste of time even if you learn **** you will still lose some weight and get fit so still a win! Youtube is great resource you only need to know what to search. If you wanna make it smart it's gone be little booring first.

day 1. Research Stance and moving, Remmber to keep hell toe line, try to move same amount with left and right leg so you're all the time in proper stance, you can put some ducktape on floor first week just learn to move.
I would do 3 rounds of footwork starting with moving couple steps forward and then all the way back , 2round side to side and final round you move on a square
front>left>back>right (you can start this day hands down) and 1 round of jump rope, After that you add AB work like 2x20 laing leg raises and 2x20 russian twists finish with 2x60 sec plank and 2x10 Pallow press with 5 sec holds

day 2.You do all the same footwork but you add 3 rounds of Jab first one in place with just step with your front leg and take it back to stance second round you can move forward both legs and stiff jab and then jab on your way back, you finish it all with 2 rounds of jump rope and abs

day 3. I would again do 3 rounds of footwork starting with moving front and back , round side to side and final round you move on a square
front>left>back>right, but this time put your hands up . Again same 2 rounds of jab and 3rd mix it all with jab and walking, finish with 2 rounds jump rope and abs

Day 4. Do 1 round of footwork on a square with hands up in guard, add second round of pivots and 3rd round freestyle moving around. 1 round of jab forward and backwards another round of jab freestyle while moving and add as 3rd round straight right in place best in front of mirror ,If you have heavybag arleady you can add 1 round of Jab on bag circling around the bag left to right, 2round 1-2 combo (but remmber to move in and out of range after combo is done) finish with skip rope for 2 rounds and do abs (its 8-10 rounds of work)

You could do day4 entire second week of your training send us then vid of freestyle shadowboxing and mby 1 round of heavybag 1-2 combos. Start everything slow and correct speed will come later

Remmber to exchale on every punch!! Make a noise to ensure you remmber to do it Wush wush !!! :D
