I’d rather not see them take that beating especially Burns who is too far past it too even stand a chance now
Still undecided about Ritson. He's been matched against non punchers and leaves his chin hanging out on plate. Certainly carries power but would like to see him in with a banger to see what that chins made off. I don't think Crolla or Burns would step down to Euro level at this stage of their careers.
Well certainly in Burns case he isnt taking a step back as he is no longer above European level ability wise.
He’s currently floating in oblivion. Probably be a last crack at a title or does he want to bow out on an easy home victory?
Burns gets a lot of stick on here but he is one of Scotlands best ever and a 3 weight world champ. Defended a world title 9 fights in a row, fought with a broken jaw to earn a (controversial) draw and lost his belt by UD against an elite p4p top 10 fighter. Deserves respect in my book. He is coming off a loss to Indongo (stinker) and Crolla (ex world champ). No way is Burns below Euro level I think that's harsh. He has proved he will fight anyone anywhere I can see him getting another title shot. Still a decent name to have on anybody's record.
I am not saying Hearn cant manoeuvre him a world title fight but certainly does not merit one. If he beat Ritson it would propell him to world level again. I would fancy Ritson to win but lets be honest ge lacks experience, especially over a long hard fight. Burns would at the very least ask alot of questions and if Ritson never answered them he would lose.
I'm not sure I would pick ritson to beat Ricky at this moment. Ricky whilst not been quite the same fighter as he was a few years ago by which I mean he isn't a world level operater any more but he still has loads of experience, is still fit and strong and and has his smarts fully intact. He would no way be intimidated by Lewis which is something all his opponents have show (lewis) since he's been fighting for the British. Ricky also has the type of jab that can make people wary of coming forward. I know that wasn't the case with indongo but rickys primary weapon, with his stepping in with the jab was offset with indongos reach advantage as indongo had ridiculously long arms, he was also southpaw and Ricky has been known to struggle with southpaws, probably because of the mechanics involved and his main weapon been step in with jab. Rickys experience would just be enough to turn ritson over at this point. Ritson still needs a lot of work and the wrong matchmaking at this point could set him back a long time.
