Froch needs wins against Pasqual and a fighter like Inkin for Calzaghe to even be intererested

 

£5m is a very attractive figure, even for Calzaghe, but would his fans forgive him if he fought Froch instead of Dawson, say, in his last fight (for at least as much money)?

And why would Calzaghe be motivated to fight Froch at this stage, if it were not for much more money than Froch can get him?

I have a full handfull of people I'd rather see Calzaghe fight before Froch. All could get him at least £5m :conf

 

Its a bull**** offer, Froch is selling/ promoting the Pascal fight and this gets him in the papers.

All Brit title fights are big sellers, i doubt that most of the 80,000 it would attract even know who Dawson is...

he was keen on fighting Clinton Woods when Clinton was IBF champ and Froch is just a 'big' as him in reality...

Personally though id prefer to him to retire, if not retirement then another big name in America is the only reason to stay in the game imo.

 

Unless the fight was at Wembley, and they were able to sell a lot of tickets - there wouldn't be £5m on the table for only an ITV fight.

To be fair, you would probably get 90000 for Calzaghe - on the proviso that there was a decent supporting cast.

But Hennessy doesn't carry that many that will 'sell' tickets on their own back - say three Euro/British level fights, the odd international ten rounder and a few decent prospects.

Froch's pulling his usual stunt of swelling his name of Calzaghe's back. However it is a fight i would like to see, however it would have to be at light heavy (as Calzaghe claims he couldnt get back to SM if he tried) and therefore all hope of Froch winning is gone to my eyes

1 More fight for big money and against a good name would be Dawson long before its Froch.

When the Cobra spoke to him on the phone it was very classless. An itv show doing a piece on froch, he gets calzaghe's number and phones him and they broadcast the call on tv. With Joe saying its all about the money.

There is hype that goes into fights and the selling of fights but when you call someone one to one I think the other guy has to know he will be on tv before the call. Out of common courtesy Calzaghe said its all about the money and if the fight can be made down the road it may happen.

Froch can probably afford to take a low split - because the money that would be generated from this one would be many times more than any fight he has had up to date, and by taking a 10% split it would still be his highest purse.

The TV piece was very classless - at least when Benn and Eubank were slaughtering each other they had the guts to front each other as well as the cameras. Frochy is only spouting off because he knows deep down that Calzaghe doesn't give a ****, and will let him play his game accordingly.

if froch is such a soft touch then how come joe will obviously duck him?
