    :patsch

This is the UK, not Vegas - the promoters have to pay for the venue. If Joe was being paid £5m, what would Froch get?

Who would be on the undercard?

    How much would they get?

Where would the fight be staged?

    PPV/ITV?

Plenty of questions to answer there. Unless Mick has a few quid he is prepared to lose - this fight won't be happening any time soon.

Good luck answering the questions :hi:

Get real mate, its Hennessys favourite trick, to get his fighter a bit of free publicity he makes some outlandish claim or offer to a well known fighter. Its reported in the papers and the fighters next fight is also mentioned. Witter used to do it with Hatton and now Froch is doing it with Calzaghe, the connection? Both Hennessy fighters.

I'd be very surprised if theres genuinely £5 million in this fight for Calzaghe, I think a 25,000 gate is the max and it won't get PPV status.

Few things first being even when both Hatton and Witter were with Warren, Witter was trying to get him in the ring.

Second Calzaghe can sell 70,000 tickets against Mr Bean if the fight were in Cardiff.

And as far as i can tell Calzaghe has deal to box on Setanta, but how air tight their deals are there is no way of telling.

    My two penneth (again).......

Had Witter not made the stupid decision to challenge Zab Judah and instead racked up a couple of decent wins, Sky could (and would) have forced the fight with Hatton for the British title.

Junior gave Hatton an easy way out, by spending 12 rounds running - many people swore they would never watch Witter fight again. Hatton held (and still does hold) all the aces - from fans to ticket sales, and profile to persona. You may not appreciate Hatton's northern sarcasm, but it is a damn sight more endearing than twisted bitterness.

The moment Witter took and lost the Zab fight he was off Hatton's radar - though the fight should have happened this year after Ricky lost to Floyd. The WBC would have allowed it as their $$$ would have been much higher.

Calzaghe will only do a one fight deal with any network - now he is in control he is actually proving himself pretty savvy in that department.

It is a theme that Hennessy fighters use others in order to generate publicity - Witter was the most obvious example, though Froch is doing it a lot and Thaxton, Murray, Hide and Eastman have all done it previously.

Witter did try to get a Hatton fight while he was with Warren but really started piggybacking the promotion of his fights on Hatton when he moved to Hennessy (at that "I'll fight him for training expenses" BS).

70,000 in Cardiff for Mr Bean? The Manfredo fight barely did 30,000 in Cardiff and more people had heard of him than have heard of Froch because of The Contender (sad, but true)

I think our friend is basing his statement on the fact that Calzaghe vs Kessler did bumper numbers - and not many casuals had heard of Kessler.

The fight was promoted heavily on the basis that Kessler held two world titles.

To this day it surprises me that Warren paid the WBC a sanctioning fee!

it got 35000 but thats not the point, if Froch looks good winning the wbc title on ITV, with the right hype England V Wales, we wouldhave the place packed out.

nonetheless, the fight means nothing to Calzaghes legacy and i dont beleive the hennesey has the 5 million anyway....

So you've changed your mind about promoting the Calzaghe-Bean fight in Cardiff?

I'm not sure the England-Wales angle is workable either, its never been a factor in JCs fights with Eubanks, Reid, Woodhall, Starie. Calzaghe is just seen as a Brit by the English (until he loses anyway!!).

Anyhoo moot points, its a bit of publicity for Froch-Pascal, it'll never happen and certainly not for a £5 million guaranteed purse for Calzaghe (a lot more than he got for either Lacy or Kessler)

Where the **** is Froch going to come up with 5 million quid to pay Joe Calzaghe? The fight probably wouldn't even generate that much of a gate total. Does he plan on pulling the money out of his ass?

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Calzaghe-Manuel (from Fawlty Towers) would sell 70,000 tickets especially if you have Jonathan Ross and/or Russell Brand in Joe's corner. Think about the 24/7 series for that as well.

Froch needs to let go of Calzaghes coattails! He's known for calling Calzaghe out not for what he's done in the ring. I really can't stand Froch, He's done nothing, yet exspects the biggest fights out there to be handed to him. I hope Kessler gives him and his "trademark" uppercut :rofl (slow lunging left seen coming from the moon which has only been proven to be effective on journeymen) a shot.
