    10-9 Pachay

Caught the ducking Callender in a flat-footed crouch inside with a short 1-2-3 introducing leather to every square inch of the older man's face.

    Round 2

Wow. Pachay is given a count early on what appeared to be a clear slip, while Callender attacked him on his way down. Bad call by the ref. Pachay doesn't argue, however, presenting his gloves dutifully to resume action. Moments later, HUGE collision of heads as Callender dove in, and Pachay is gashed on the cheek, wide open, and wincing. Ref calls time out. Pachay okay to continue. Pachay knows the round is a lost cause with the KD ruling so he plays it safe and peppers the middle of Callender's forearms with light jabs, consistently tapping his guard on the backfoot.

    10-8 Callender

    19-18 Callender

    Round 3

Pachay exacting his revenge, lining up Callender for repeated 1-2s that snap his neck sharply. Callender is shook by the sudden resurgence of focus. Pachay stems every sortie attempt from Callender with a sharp combination, rocking him. BIG CHECK HOOK just before the bell drops Callender. Saved by the bell.

    10-8 Pachay

    28-27 Pachay

    Round 4

Callender is putting everything into closing it out strong, winging big hooks snapping his legs erect from a crouch on the way in, using the cross-armed defense until making his delivery at Pachay's front door. Pachay able to stay just ahead of him with quicker feet, jabbing at the forehead and drilling him with backfoot crosses, sometimes following up with a punctuating left hook to buy him a moment to pivot clear of the pocket. Callender forcing the pace, just lacking the speed or accuracy of Pachay (not to mention his less educated feet never being in the ideal position to land as big as he wants to).

    10-9 Pachay

    38-36 Pachay

I have to agree with all of this, with the caveat that I can’t blame Ali Raymi for trying to make the most out of his situation. I also wouldn’t blame any Yemeni people who supported him. But it was a fairly farcical existence, and I’m not even certain he really deceased and didn’t just disappear when he became too high key (not trying to be inflammatory)

I can see 37 apiece (if you give Callender the fourth on my card, that would be the score - and that was the kind of round where many pro judges favor the aggressor in lieu of being able to suss out the nuances of who's connecting more or doing the higher quality work, if not obvious) but 38-36 Callender is puzzling. I wonder if that judge would have given him a shutout had it not been for Pachay scoring a KD.

We've had two very different 4-rounders so far, one a quick 1-sided destruction and the other a competitive game of violent chess between disparate styles.

This card's delivering so far. Aces for a Thursday night. How come only @Somachenko and @Oneirokritis are deigning to participate so far? I can lead horses to water, but... :nusenuse:

Jeremy "Pit Bull" Triana pulling a major tough guy act during his interview (at ringside earlier today, when the venue was empty and crew were still getting everything set up), turning away from the camera to pose in profile-view with his chin raised defiantly, and taking long pulls off his 20oz orange juice bottle in between replies, sometimes making the NeX reporter wait as he chugged. From the gist of it, sounded like he was saying he was grateful for the opportunity to shine but considers this easy work, and Cientifico is no big deal for him. Bold attitude.

Hidrogo goes by the Panamanian Ricky Hatton. I’m pulling for him based on this alone

The prospect in this one is Rafael "El General" Pedroza, coming off a knockout victory against Gilmer Baules (in which he needed to climb off the canvas early to scrape out the W; but don't be too alarmed. Baules is the enigmatic warrior that popped the cherry of a little someone you might have caught wind of named Luis "El Nica" Concepción, before a six year layoff...) and yet Hidrogo is a TV mainstay and solid veteran, having mixed with many prospects from the northern half of the continent and usually acquitting himself well.
