I think Bonnar/Coleman is a retire or get out of town fight, winner stays a while longer a loser hits the road.

Best thing Affliction could do is sign away some currently winning UFC fighters, guys that are in their prime right now, to face Affliction's current roster.

Affliction's roster is ****. Fedor vs. Tito would be interesting, who else is there? Arlovski vs. Barnett? Tito vs. Sobral. Belfort.

There is nothing more I would like than for the UFC to have an equal counterpart, like PrideFC was, the rivalry was great. But when Zuffa bought Pride most of the talent came with it. I would like to see guys like Manhoef, Kharitonov, Krazy Horse, Gomi, go with Affliction since they are all exciting fighters and have no ties to the UFC, rather than fighters that the UFC has let go.

The UFC does not have the best though. The UFC Heavyweight Division is a complete joke. Affliction's Heavyweight Division is much better. Their Heavyweight 'champion' is a former pro wrestler with 4 fights.:rofl

Your concerns aren't totally unfounded. The problem is that the perfect dream sports world won't come about. The current MMA situation is better than the current boxing situation, and decentralization that certainly COULD lead to better career earnings for fighters could also lead to a horrid boxing-like situation.

In the UFC you don't get 30 gimme fights before you have to fight a real fighter. In EliteXC fighters got gimme fights and thats because it was ran by the scumbag Gary Shaw. I don't want boxing promoters to come to MMA and ruin it, I'd rather UFC have a monopoly.

Also, Boxing has been around for years and years and years and kids grow up learning about boxing from their dads etc. etc. whereas MMA is fairly new. Would it really be better for the fighters if they didn't have this giant monopoly of a production company backing them? Think about it, all of the current popular UFC fighters are popular because of OTHER UFC fighters events. People paid to see Tito fight Forrest, and Arlovski to fight Sylvia. They didn't necessarily know who these new guys, Scott Smith, Thiago Alves, and Jason Lambert were. These guys fought on the undercard.

Are these guys the best in the world? No. But they get to make a living fighting MMA because the UFC is able to market them off the back of their top-tier talent (although, certainly, Alves is top tier now). Unlike boxing PPVs, the undercards are stacked with upcoming talent that can be the next big thing in MMA, and these guys get chances to make careers for themselves.

Better than like, 10 guys able to make 100 bajillion dollars apiece while every other boxer on the planet is broke. I like the monopoly.
