It looks like Warren wants to bring Amir Khan to the US sooner or later and if it is sooner, Amir could fight as soon as April 19 on the Hopkins-Calzaghe card.

Of course it's just a possibility, but if Warren is able to put Khan on the TV undercard (which would be a hell of a job to do on a GBP event) that fight could be a perfect opportunity to show in the States what he's got before a world title fight.

Remember that ALL LW champions - Juan Diaz, Joel Casamayor, David Diaz and Michael Katsidis are HBO fighters. Casamayor and Katsidis has a very good realationship with GBP as well as Diaz (since the Top Rank-GBP truce) and Juan Diaz could be a GBP fighter himself after March when his contract expires with the Don.

So putting Khan on a GBP/HBO card would be a very intelligent move in terms of marketability. If not on the Hopkins-Calzaghe undercard, Amir's next fight could be in the UK against EBU champ Yuri Romanov.

So what do you think a US debut would mean to Khan's career? Or should he focus on the European title instead?

Excellent move for Khan if he gets the chance. It immediately squashes any chance of someone calling him a stay at home fighter. Gives him top exposure stateside, therefore increasing his marketability worldwide. Win win scenario for Warren and Khan. Whom to fight though??

Oh yes, whom should he fight is the next great question. I'd say that a US/Mexican fighter or someone who has fought on HBO in his career would be the perfect choice.

Of course on the very top there are some dangerous names like big puncher Julio Diaz, defensive wizard Zaheer Raheem, Santa Cruz, Jesus Chavez, Kid Diamond, Rolando Reyes, Randy Suico, Jose Cotto or Ricky Quiles etc., but I'd say that these fights are not looking to be possible because of the shortness of time, amount of money and the possible danger.

So someone with a less spectecular record and name.

Woopie, we get to see him vs. some undersized, feather fisted opponent had selected by the best in the business Frank Warren.

I'm thinking Graham Earl was paid to get crushed in the first, everything about this Amir Khan is just one big money making sham on the novelty of a young olympian.

    Lol some real experts here!

You know, if you'll meet Khan accidentally somewhere you should tell him that he's just a big money making sham and maybe after he realizes how true it is he'll hang up his gloves for good.

I agree. At the age of 21 and after 14 pro fights Khan shouldn't beat guys like Earl or St. Claire. He should beat world champions, is that what you're saying? But wait! How should he get a title opportunity if he doesn't beat universally recognized top15 challengers? :patsch

Just wondering how he can be ranked number 4 by the wbc and no 8 by the wbo when even though he has not conquered britain yet ie thaxton.

Well that's his problem. But the last time I checked Khan was 8th on The Ring, 6th on the FN, 6th on the WBC and 4th on the WBO rankings. I might check it after they count in the St. Clair (9th IBF, 12th FN) win.

Khan is signed to ITV whereas Calzaghe is signed to Setanta so i can't see it happening.
