He refused Kovalev's offer for november to pursue the mandatory position. Hopkins refused to fight him and I heard Chilemba and Skoglund said no too. Who should be next? Pascal? Monaghan? Alvarez?

He should've taken the Kovalev offer. He won't get more than 20%, and 500k was a damn good offer. He won't be seeing that kind of money even in a purse bid.

Chilemba and Fonfara might fight a WBC eliminator.
That means if Monaghan, Barrera and Pascal pass on as well we get Beter-Mohammedi

Most of us thought he needed more pro experience before challenging Kovalev so maybe so did he and his team. Or maybe he's hoping Kovalev drops the belt if Haymon wins the purse bids and wants to become a titleholder before taking on a big name.

I think this was all Gaymon's doing, definitely. Really, I also think he needs more professional experience, but the fanboys don't. If they think he's ready, then he should fight Kovalev.

That wasn't a terrible offer Kovalev's team gave for him to fight in Russia. If it does go to purse-bid, everyone knows Kovalev will most likely vacate. This was a chance to skip the politics and get down to a real fight.

Until he becomes mandatory and then challenges for a title within 18 months.

    Patience my friend.

Alvarez should be a relatively easy fight to make.

The question is whether they want yo throw two guys at this stage of their careers in together, or let it "marinate"

The way I look at it he only has 9 pro fights under his belt so I would definitely not expect him to take on the best in the division just yet. The fight will likely still be there some point in the future once he has gained more pro experience and has beaten more top level guys.

So what happens? They just keep going down the IBF rankings until someone agrees to fight him in a mandatory?

I read that Beterbiev wanted to represent Canada at the Rio olympics. He might not fight at all until they're done.

Beterbiev already makes more than that. If his promoter wins the purse bid, he will make much more than 500k.

He did say that once but I read a more recent interview where he said it wasn't really interested in doing that anymore. I can't remember what reason he gave off the top of my head.
