It's all gone a bit quiet regarding Carl Frampton's next fight. Know it's early days and not long afrer Matrinez defended his title but have there been any whispers/rumours doing the rounds about who and when for his next bout? Or is there anyone in the know willing to use this forum to post any news at all. Cheers
Personally I reckon Quigg gets the Martinez fight, Frampton could face anyone though apart from Rigo and have a good chance of winning, McGuigan should be aiming for a title next.
Quigg carries less 'weight' than Frampton, so he is probably prepared to work cheap, and put up with onerous terms and conditions, strings attached etc. So from the champs point of view Quigg is probably more 'attractive' as a challenger. Plus Kiko obviously realises that he has some reasonable chance of beating Quigg. We all know what happens if he fights Carl. Ex-champs experience a serious pay-cut - and Kiko knows this! So, yeah, If I was Kiko, I'd choose Quigg too!!
It's been a year since the Martinez fight and look what he's gone on to do, rip a title off an undefeated champ on HBO and look legit in his defence, Frampton only has the Parodi showcase Kikos subsequent success has moved Frampton up the rankings (I believe RING have him ranked number 1?), but he can't coast on that forever, he needs to get a move on and not wait for the fights to come to him he's in his prime and I HATE to see fighters on a great run being inactive
Calm down guys Frampton was out in October and he will be out again in March/April and hopefully for the World title if agreements can be made with KiKo Martinez's camp. Barry McGuigan said they were going to offer Martinez a lot of Money and they haven't ruled out fighting in Spain either.
He deserves it for allowing his promoter to **** him over by forcing him to BN. Barry's greed will be their downfall.
Though Frampton is mandatory challenger to Kiko's title as far as I know Kiko's entitled to a voluntary defence against a top 15 challenger. As of November 2013 Quigg wasn't in the 15 top IBF Super Bantamweights so not sure how this is all working out. Of course when the IBF next release their rankings who would be surprised if Quigg appeared there.
He's massively inactive. Beat Martinez a year ago and after that he's beat Parodi and that's it. He's been very badly advised and is waiting for fights to come to him rather than go after them. When Quigg-Martinez happens he has vey limited options
Having already lost to Carl, Kiko and his people are, understandably, not too keen to fight Frampton again. They want to hang onto the title as long as they can, and we all know that means not giving Carl his shot, unfortunately. Carl could try waiting to see if Quigg can relieve Kiko of the title, but how long will that take? Plus Quigg could very well turn out to be as frampton-averse as Kiko. Carl may be forced to go the other route, LSC. This is riskier obviously, but could pay off big time, provided Frampton can beat Leo. Either way Carl is far too inactive. This is a problem.
If Frampton is going to have a warm up fight Id love to see him and Kid Galahad, the build up would be something else and on top of that it's a great domestic fight. Its either that or some Euro bum you know how these things work.
