Maybe Ward, Gamboa, or Mares. My pick would def be JMM, especially if Pac is #1 or 2.

Covered in 'others' mainly because I think he may retire/ deteriorate at round the same time as Pac/May

Broner and all the untested (Against formidable opponents) fighters on this list. They must beat these type fighters and do it consistently. A fighter must show decent chin before he's over hyped as a top p4p.

Yea but look at the guys he has already beat. Abraham, Froch, Miranda, Kessler, Green, Bika. And we can possibly add Dawson next. That's pretty impressive compared to other fighters on the list.

Yep, some of them will emerge and some of them will fail. I did a similar thread about 2 years ago and people was talking about Juan Manuel Lopez, Amir Khan and even James Kirkland. They certainly have a long round back but while people was laughing about the prospect of Ward becoming number 1, he's winning this vote by a landslide.

Mares resume is pretty impressive too compared to the others on the list. Back to back fights with top opponents. Perez (draw), Darchinyan, Agbeko (twice), Morel. And with his potential future opponents, I think he could be put up there too.

If Ward (and many others on the list) was able to sell his fights the way Mayweather does, he would be talked about more. Broner does it and it works.

Donaire has too, look at his laundry list- Darchinyan (who was on pound for pound lists at the time), Morthui Mthlane (who has since gone on to win the IBF flyweight title), Hernan Marquez (who has now become the number 1 reated flyweight by The RING), Vlodoymyr Sydrenko (a respected veteran who had wins over Joseph Agbeko, Poonsawat Kratenddaggym, 2 draws with Cordoba and a waver thin SD loss in his prior fight to Anselmo Moreno), Fernando Montiel (on pound for pound lists), Omar Navarez (undefeated number 1 ranked Jr Bantamweight) Vazquez Jr and won the IBF belt from Mathebula. Thats just as, if not more impressive than Ward if you ask me.

True, he's on a Froch type gauntlet, with Moreno next, but I feel Mares is probably an old 26 with the wars he's been in, cuts up pretty easily and at this stage I think he's not quite on the level of the elite of his division, although I have him 10th on my pound for pound list now.

    Yep! :yep

Ward needs to start being a ****. He should call Dawsons mum a slag and his dad a dickhead in the build up to the fight and keep gobbing off that Martinez is scared of him and show footage of the Argentinians trashing the arena after Casimero beat Lazarate and say "typical Argentinians just like that stroker Martinez" Then start coming his 'hair'.
