Archie Sharp now officially signed with them. He has said he is going straight for the Shakur belt, really would like to see him have a solid step up first
What would be his biggest win atm? Declan Geraghty? Which he was losing until that massive KO. Is a shame as without a good fight before then he has minimal chance
Mmmm, I'll believe it when I see it. It wasn't that long ago when even Fightzone was saying that they were changing the face of boxing. The only way they changed the game was by charging for fights that people didn't even want to see for free.
Danny Kindman is a huge player in boxing behind the scenes and has the biggest stable in UK and Ireland boxing by a mile. The cartel are rebranding, restructuring and recruiting huge numbers of UK boxers - I believe the reborn Mohammed Dan Kin Ehan from Dubai is going to be huge player in boxing going forward unless somehow the authorities bring him crashing down.
I do not recall Dennis Hobson / Fightzone saying that "they were changing the face of boxing" ? Hobson said that with Fightzone he would create a platform for Small Hall Boxing shows in the U.K.
You're absolutely right Jurgen. Probellum´s Boxing platform can be a serious challenge for DAZN, Sky Sports etc. I know they have had and still have encounters with some of the biggest stars in Boxing. Money is not a problem for Probellum.
You're right here mate. My big fear as we see Probellum build is the risk that they have the power to hold the sport to hostage. MTK fighters have been very loyal to them. What would it take for them to effectively become a "closed shop" if they keep being ignored by TV and major sponsors? Hearn et al have talked about Matchroom maybe becoming its own UFC style promotion - well right here and now, we're maybe seeing it happen with Probellum. With the stark choice possibly facing young fighters - sign with MTK and deal with Probellum or find yourself locked out of a big chunk of the sport. That might be a bit dystopian, but when you're dealing with people like Sheikh Kin Ehan (props to Jurgen for that name) then they must have an end goal beyond organising events and recruiting boxers. It has to be said, MTK have seemed to have a good, benevolent reputation in terms of advising their boxers. I fear this will change as they seek further legitimacy. Very much hope to be wrong.
Ok perhaps they weren't literally saying that but by charging to televise something that previously was available only by buying a ticket, they were creating a platform that wasn't previously available thereby changing the way (some) boxing was broadcast. People bought tickets to small hall shows mainly because of some local interest on the card creating the concept of the ticketseller. That hasn't travelled to subscription TV or he wouldn't have dropped the fee with eventual plans to come back 60% cheaper. Only in boxing does someone have the ill found confidence to launch a pay TV channel on the back of Kash Ali, Tommy Frank and Glenn McCrory's commentary.
Nope but if you think its hard for DAZN to obtain marketing and sponsorship platforms it will be almost impossible for big brands to back or be involved with Probellum
