Next Scottish boxing star ???

If you look at what I'm saying you'll see that i'm not compairing Flynn to Taylor it's their management im talking about, all im saying is McGuigan was trying to get Ricky Burns world title for Taylor when he only had about six fights, so how is he supposed to defend against the top operators in that division when he hasn't won any major competitions in amateurs or fought about 20 rounds in the pros. Lomachenko arguably the best amateur ever got smacked by Salido in the pros doing just that.

 

Hasn't one any major competitions in amateurs? He has silver and gold commonwealth medals to his name as well as fighting at the Olympics and WSB so fair to say he had his fair share of success in the am's.

We're not talking about throwing him in with one of the main men in the division yet so McGuigan talking him up against Burns right now is speculation. We're talking about hims fighting OD, a young boxer with as much pro experience as him.

 

The biggest tournament Taylor won was the Commonwealth the same as Flynn how does that put Taylor on a different planet from Flynn. Cordina beat Taylor and Flynn beat Cordina. Thats the stubborn facts the rest is just hype or opinion.

 

The commonwealth games is not regarded as a major by aiba the last time I checked, it's nowhere near the level of an Olympic qualifying tournament or olympics for that matter. Indeed the standard at it can be very poor at times. It's only regarded highly by sentimental empire lovers lol.

We will see how both fighters careers pan out mate, they difference will be stark imo.

 

As i said there are facts and then there's your opinion which basically amounts to your hopes, not a good basis for a discussion. We'll leave it at that and see how things pan out for Taylor.

 

the facts are that charlie flynn should never have been at the commonwealth games in the first place, he was dropped heavily at the scottish championships by lewis paulin and just as lewis went in for the ko the time keeper rang the bell with around 1m30s still to go in the round. there was a big uproar and that gave charlie the time to recover and last the distance. most people at the fight agreed that lewis paulin bossed the fight and the decision was given to charlie flynn. it was a disgraceful result and now the rest is history.

i have watched charlie since his young days at newarthill and i just don't see what you see in him, he is ok but nothing special and if he is to win a british title then imo he will have done very well. i might be wrong and i hope i am wrong but i just see him getting beat and probably ko'd or stopped when he does step up. if he goes on to win british, commonwealth, euro and world titles then i will be the first to admit i was wrong

i wonder if billy nelson would have fancied lewis ritsons chances against charlie flynn?

 

The facts? The facts are Taylor qualified for an Olympic Games in which he beat a future gold medalist which is a greater achievement than winning a commonwealth games.

I'm maybe just being harsh on Taylor. I saw him plenty in the amateurs, albeit he has came on great so far in the Pro's. I feel top silky boxers will beat him to the punch when he goes up the levels. Even though plenty people including Frampton are saying he hits hard, I will judge him when he is boxing solid boys with granite chins at 140 and 147lbs.
I'm not sure who to choose yet over Davies and Taylor. Part of me thinks OD will make it an uncomfortable night for Taylor. Another part makes me think Josh will completely outclass home from start to finish.

I get the picture mate your trying to get your guy into Ricky Burns shoes so if anyone says anything positive about Flynn they're bad and you and your blogsquad call them names lol

 

my post points out a fact that Charlie was dropped heavy and was helped by an inept timekeeper and some dodgy scoring. he did well to win the gold I'll give him that but I'm also 100% sure that anyone hoping to be British champion and above would have been able tp control Ryan collins and not let collins get close enough to damage his eye? I mean abdon Cesar and chris addaway both managed to outbox him fairly easily and they are both journeymen

I dont rate lewis the way billy did but I'm sure he mentioned that he would have taken a bout with Charlie Flynn in a heartbeat on here whilst lewis was in his gym so maybe he can tell us why he was so confident?

at the end of the day Charlie is Scottish so I will support him no matter what but I just don't see what you clearly see in him. is he a ko artist? no! is he a slick boxer? no! is he a brawler? no! does he have a granite chin? no! That is a lot of boxes he is ticking the NO and as mentioned before I'll be the first to admit I am wrong if he goes on to bigger things but I just feel that you are wearing Charlie Flynn tinted specs and no matter how much facts you are shown you will always be a Charlie Flynn nut hugger

 

In terms of development since winning gold Josh's career has blossomed whereas maybe through injuries Charlie's hasn't
I'd still say josh is the more talented of the two if asked

Another confused post you can't separate fact from fiction: Flynn beat Paulin twice, schooled Collins who headered him, amateur Jr/Sr British champ was Paulin ever eh naw..(Real Factual info) then again maybe the bell ringer was in on it and got him all his wins, Jim Watt rekons he'll be a world champ, hope that doesn't hurt too much #bellringerconspiracy

 

That will be the "british" championships that no gb podium boys enter? Very misleading name that tournament considering none of the best guys are actually in it.
