I completely disagree. Clearly, he's ready to take on the best right now. He will give them the same treatment he dished to Cloud and Campillo.
Kovalev and Stevenson are noticeably better than Campillo and Cloud. Cloud especially, is a shadow of his former self. Like I said, Beterbiev's defence is bad and Kovalev and Stevenson are big hitters. They can also both box, both go the distance and can both fight to a game plan, something Beterbiev hasn't showed us much of. Right now, Beterbiev would get out boxed and, bar landing a KO shot, his toughness and chin would determine how long he lasts.
Or he might just walk right through them, as he done to everybody up to now. I'm almost categoric that neither Stevenson or Kovalev would relish a toe to toe exchange with him. If the fights are made, it's going to be Beterbiev in the center of the ring walking these two down, and not the other way around. Let's see how Stevenson and Kovalev adapt to fighting from the outside, for a change.
He has walked through punchers by a lot less powerful opponents. Fair enough, he could have a Chuvalo-esque chin, but, considering the power that Kovalev and Stevenson carry, I would not recommend finding out. Also, Stevenson has often fought of the back foot. Kovalev, whilst not a back foot fighter, can box. Beterbiev has not shown this. Boxing, especially at the top level, requires a lot more than great power and hoping you have a good chin. I am not saying Beterbiev in the future can't improve and beat these guys, but, at this moment in time, he has not shown me nearly enough to be able to beat the aforementioned fighters.
He has shown plenty to me. He's neither a flashy power puncher or an outboxing machine. And he will never be. He knows his strenghts and he fights up to them perfectly. I suspect he has a better chin than either Adonis or Sergey. And he has the ability to make it count. These two will swerve him like the plague.
