155- with B.J. - Stevenson happening soon that still leaves a very deep division with guys deserving shots I think Huerta-Edgar should fight for an eliminator to get the next shot with Ken Florian close after that. 170. After GSP- Serra if Jon Fitch should win his next fight he is definatly the next guy in line 185- After Silva- Hendo I'm not sure who is in line for the next shot with 185 being the weakest division nobody is standing out. until Martin Kampmann comes back from his injury...Bisping is a guy who should be a contendor right away...but he prob will need a fight or two to feel things out. 205- it looks like forrest will get the next shot...but after that there is alot of great fighters who are close.rumour is Evans- Thiago Silva should be fighting in May....but that is a while away. That leaves Machida 1 win away from a shot and Jardine close if he can get another big win he should be there. liddell,Houston,Wandy,Shogun ,Skodou might have to get more than 1 win to get there shot because of recent loses..and of course Tito is also in the mix...but I get the picture he isn't overly interested in fighting anymore. at least in the matchmking they have lot's of options. heavyweight- After Sylvia- Nog fight And assuming AA is still with the org he should be close to a shot.Cheik Kongo would be the other guy that should get a shot...I think AA-CK would be a great eliminator but apparently AA is suppose to fight Sanchez in April. the jury is still out on Lesner but we will find out soon what he can do in the octagon. Vera is still there and CC still wants to fight but are coming off loses.Gabriel Gonzaga is still there and fights Werdum next so we will see how he makes out in that fight.
The 185 division is horrendous. If Hendo wins, it at least opens up some doors. Franklin vs. Hendo down the line wouldn't be too bad. If Silva wins though, he will have wiped out the entire division.
If Silva should win that would for sure close up the dvision..besides Bisping maybe giving him trouble nobody stands out at this point. I still think travis Lutter could give him a go. he has givin Anderson he's only hard match up to this point.
Lutter has been given his one only chance hed get dismantled next time they fight. Been rewatching Kampmann...He aint beating Silva..I thought he had a chance but he gets hit wayyy too much by wild swingers..and Silva will maul him on the ground.. I want Silva at 205 or GSP at a catchweight 180?
I just re- seen a couple Kampmann's fights as well..I use to think he could contend ...he was a kickboxer but has a very weak punch and wouldn't be able to get to anderson. But Silva has his hands full with Dan Henderson anyhow so we'll see how that goes.
Im the same I was high with Kampmann..I guess due in part because he came from Kamans camp and Rogan would hype him up as a great kickboxer. I saw the McFedries fight..I knew he barely survived that one but was still impressed he chocked him out.. He has a good form but not busy enough and like you said no power and extra short arms. Rewatched the Leites fight..Leites had no business standing with him and still he almost got Koed
LW - Edgar, hands down WW - Fitch, also hands down MW - Okami LHW - Machida or a Machida/Liddell eliminator HW - Winner of Gonzaga Werdum
After Penn beats Joe Daddy, he might get the next shot at WW. I think he has unfinished business in that weight class and after he wins the title at Lt Weight, why stick around and risk a speed bump at getting back to GSP.
I like your list. Some of the guys on that list are often overlooked but are hugely worthy. I'm becoming a big Edgar fan. And the fact Gonzaga should be back in line for a title shot soon is just a statement about the sad state of the heavyweight division.
Blame it on the silly UFC matchmaking, UFC still has 8/10 of the top 10 ranked HW's in the world, (7 if you exclude Randy) They should have got Arlovski into play, got Vera onto something, its annoying but a Gonzaga-Sylvia fight for the HW title will be interesting.
Yeah, you're right. There are a bunch of fun fights that could be made, but most of the heavyweights don't seem to fight anymore. I'd like to see any combination of Vera, Cro Cop or Arvloski fight. Arvloski or Vera vs. Kongo would be fun, too. Hell, I'd watch Arvloski or Vera fight Eddie Sanchez for crying out loud. They've really let that division go to hell.
The UFC has already said Sean Sherk gets the next LW title fight in March or April. BJ has hinted that the only reason he is staying at lightweight right now is because he wants Sean, and I expect if he makes it to that fight he will go up afterwards one way or the other.
I would love to see this fight...A good choice for Penn..If he beats Joe and then Sherk..He just leap over everyone at that division.. No one is going to say that "Oh he skipped Edgar and Kenny" Going after GSP is then justified.
I wanna see Penn beat Joe. Vacate. fight GSP. Let Sherk and Edgar fight for the title. That would be a sick ass fight.
Sick as in the laying and arguing whos going to be on top? Let Penn fight both of them..I want to see some busted faces and Penn provides that in ample doses
