Cotto vs. Fraud, he is being a warrior and deserve another payday a big one! he has fought everyone put on front of him, he is being a gentleman, even after d cheating Margarito's fight, the guy is a class act and I'll root for him, unless he fights Lara, in which case I'll like to c him look good but in a losing effort.
So, no takers for our Australian anti-hero Anthony Mundine then? This content is protected Mundine wants Mayweather or Cotto v Foreman winner by Jason Kim - Boxing News 24 - June 3rd 2010 Two-time WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (38-3, 23 KOs) is hoping to get a shot at unbeaten This content is protected in the near future or at the very least a chance to fight the June 5th winner of the Yankee Stadium clash between WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman bout. Mundine, 35, will be facing Jorge Daniel Miranda (36-8, 13 KOs) later on this month on June 30th for the vacant WBA International light middleweight title. This content is protected Mundine is currently ranked #1 WBA, #3 IBF and #9 WBO in the middleweight division. Mundine turned down a chance to fight for the middleweight title in a fight against undefeated This content is protected , a move that didnt endear Mundine with many of his fans. It would have been a good bout for Mundine because Golovkin is young undefeated former Olympian and hits hard. Mundine didnt see the appeal in the fight and instead is hoping to get a big paying bout against Mayweather or the Cotto-Foreman winner. Mundines career has been going along pretty smoothly since being beaten by This content is protected in a 12 round decision loss in 2005. Mundine has won his last 15 fights since that time, and captured the WBA super middleweight title for a second time in 2007. However, most of Mundines fights in the past five years have come largely against fellow Australians. He could have fought This content is protected for a second time but instead relinquished his WBA title without a fight by vacating it rather than fighting Kessler. Last year, Mundine defeated This content is protected by a 12 round split decision to win the IBO middleweight title on May 27th, 2009. Mundines goal now is to capture a 4th world title by going after one of the junior middleweight belts and then hopefully get a shot against Mayweather. Mundine doesnt have much time to accomplish a lot of his goals because hes getting up there in age at 35, and its unclear how much longer hell be able to stay at the top. Mundine is making things easier on himself by being very selective in the opposition he takes, which should keep Mundine winning in the short term. However, its a big question mark whether Mundine has enough talent left to beat one of the current junior middleweight champions. It would be tough for him. Although Mundine looked decent in beating Geale last year, it was far from a one-sided fight. Mundine looked tired during the later rounds and took some heavy shots. Mundine would have a decent chance at beating Foreman, but its questionable whether hell get a chance of fighting him unless Mundine gets ranked high and beats someone of note in the division. 3 names has been mentioned 1. Cintron 2. berto 3. Maristosian Vanes is the easiest fight to make but arum wants Cintron fight the most.
Well, apparently it's going to be Cintron. A big improvement from Chavez Jnr (but then again, so would any top 154lb'er) but it wouldn't have been my first choice. Cotto-Angulo seems like a can't-miss fight. There's just no way that wouldn't be a terrific fight and hopefully we'll get to see it at some point next year. As I said in another thread, I think Cintron would enjoy some early success before Cotto brings out the ***** in him.
This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Anthony Mundine Wants Winner Of Miguel Cotto-Julio Cesar Chavez Junior by James Slater - East Side Boxing - 16th Sept 2010 Australia’s Anthony “The Man” Mundine, the former two-time WBA 168-pound champion, stopped countryman Ryan Waters in the 10th-round yesterday in New South Wales, and now the 35-year-old is targeting the WBA title at 154-pounds. Mundine improved to 40-3(24) with the TKO victory, and the never-stopped tough guy has won his last 17 bouts. Dropping down to light-middleweight for his last two outings, the Australian warrior wants to be known as one of the best in the sport pound-for-pound. And to do that, the man from Sydney is looking at a fight with the winner of the planned Dec.4th fight between WBA 154-pound king Miguel Cotto and challenger Julio Cesar Chavez Junior.. Mundine, who picked up a cut in the 4th-round of his win over Waters (courtesy of a head-butt), told The Sydney Morning Herald that it is the WBA belt he is “chasing.” “My manager is going to see the WBA in Panama,” Mundine said. “And put the pressure on to see what we can come up with. I believe I have the talent and the ability to be one of the best pound-for-pounders in the world. Everyone that fights me, they aren’t fighting for the world title - they are fighting for the world galaxy championship, especially Australians. Their mindset is if they can beat me, they have made it. “But that’s why I am “The Man,” because I keep rising to the challenge. And there is no doubt about it, Mundine - who said he felt much stronger in yesterday’s fight in comparison to his only other fight at 154 - would be a very tough proposition for either Cotto or Chavez Junior. But will the winner of December 4th’s fight look the Australian’s way? Mundine says he may push for a fight with the WBA interim champ at 154, Nobuhiro Ishida, with a win making him next in line for a fight with the Cotto-Chavez Jnr winner. In many ways an underrated fighter as well as being one who isn’t as well known outside of Australia as he should be, Mundine would perhaps be too big a risk with too little reward for the Cottos of the sport. As long as he keeps on winning, though, Mundine will have to be given a big fight soon. On the subject of Cotto-Chavez Jnr, Dan Rafael of ESPN.com isn’t sure the fight will actually happen as planned. On his Twitter page, Rafael says Top Rank have informed him that Kermit Cintron is a possibility to take on Cotto if the fight with Chavez Jnr cannot be made (‘and I have doubts,’ Dan writes, with regards to Cotto Vs. Chavez). So there seems to be a chance we could see Cotto get it on with “The Killer” on the first Saturday in December, not the son of a Mexican legend. Where would this leave Anthony Mundine? Does Cintron even deserve another shot at a world title?
is his next fight gonna be at 54? IF ITS AT 54 I WANNA HIM FIGHT EL PERRO OR CINTRON.... IF ITS AT 47 THAN BERTO WOULD BE AWESOME
Auracle, Surely Cotto's career won't be complete until he unifies his WBA title with Mundine's imaginary 'Galaxy' title. (see post #40) ....every champ should have one!
