Don’t know why they’re calling this a next gen? Every one on their is established. Basically just a Liverpool show but not good enough to fill the arena.
Lewis Ritson vs Joe Hughes....if that doesn’t give you a boxing semi on, I don’t know what will. Both on the rebuild but that it going to be a proper up close slug fest. Both like to work in the pocket. So excited about this one.
Was thinking the same when I seen it mate, be fight of the night imo. Think this will be a good bill. Few good looking fights on it.
Just a Eddie Hearn spin, actually very clever. He announces this as a Saturday fight night, gets a load of **** for it being a crap card. People don’t buy tickets, he gets none stop abuse. Stick NXTGEN before it, in a small hall, suddenly people clambering for tickets as it’s a cracking little card with some of the country’s exciting prospects on it. When in reality, it’s about the best we can expect from Hearns stable atm. Think NXTGENS should be for fighters under 25 who don’t have much experience. Not 27/28 year olds who have already headlined shows and lost.
Agree to a degree, but as much as I dislike Hearn, comes a time when you have to forget about the promoter and just look at the card in isolation. Essentially this is a good undercard without the main event, but having said that, I usually end up enjoying the undercard more. Thank you for the scraps Mr Hearn(!)
I think you’re right. If this was headlined by Price vs Allen and at the arena I doubt there would be many complaints about a Saturday fight night.
I would love it if Fowler loses again. Find him so dislikeable. Fitzgerald beating him was hugely satisfying.
It's a good little card for a Friday night. Hughes v Ritson is a good fight, that'd prop on any card up.
Nice event - Hughes v Ritson is a great fight, real 50/50 for me. Don't think Ritson has the same power or physical presence up at 140lbs and I thought Hughes beat Robbie Davies jr
I agree. If Hughes had two fully functioning arms he would be one of the best in the world, in any division. How talented must you be to be that good with one arm? Hearn should try and get him v Connor McGregor, what a narrative 'can the one armed boxer beat the MMA superstar at boxing'. For the record I think he would beat McGregor easy still. Hearn the great promoter keeps going on about fighters backstories to make them big commercially but here we have Joe Hughes with arguably the best back story in boxing in a really good fight yet he ends up being on Fowler v Rose undercard lol. Tells me people are not doing their job.
