Always the question where you draw the line. People act like boxing is such a restriction and mma is the real deal. When there are no restrictions and the outcome matters you better expect anything from knives to guns. When we're comparing sports, boxing is aesthetic and pure and mma offers a manifold of options. I love the pure aesthetics, someone else likes other things. But the argument that it is closer to the real thing and that makes it somehow better is nonsense. If people are so afraid of being attacked or whatever - best self defense is a good 400m dash! And from my own experience with boxing I would say in a streetfight I would be thankful for the footwork and some self confidence (definitely not too high) but since you can only really stop someone by hitting them there is no real victory possible. I would much prefer to be good at jiu jitsu in that position...
