Indeed. 237 lbs AJ could just about dance around a 6', 74 inch reach, 284 lbs untrained Andy Ruiz in a 22 foot Saudi ring lol. Wilder had a few problems trying to dance around Duhaupas. Even Usyk was under the cosh against an aggressive 3 stone heavier Chisora. Ngannou's a problem. Super-athlete Wlad had to jab and grab poor man's Ngannou Sam Peter all night and still got knocked down three times.
Sounds like it could be Ngannou v Parker https://x.com/declantaylor87/status/1719822416422088854?s=46&t=45NvpjZjT32ui3CidwgyjA
0% chance of that happening. Parker would outbox Ngannou comfortably. Why would Ngannou fight Parker when he would earn more money rematching Fury or fighting Joshua or Wilder instead? Since it looks like Fury vs Usyk is being targeted for February / March, I’d love to see Joshua vs Ngannou in Africa - it would be a historical fight for the continent and mark a big moment in the sport.
AJ or any half decent heavyweight should jump at the chance to make the fight. people’s eye tests are seriously malfunctioning due to Fury half-arseing and fannying about, they actually think Ngannou is a serious contender. with no surprise factor anymore, there’ll never be an easier fight to improve your rep.
I’m pretty confident Joshua would dominate him, and I understand why Fury fans don’t want to see it. I doubt Hearn’s ability to make these big fights now though.
That's a definite from me pal. There's nothing no surer in boxing than styles makes fights. It's built into the system.
Joshua won’t stop Ngannou, Fury hit him with a wild elbow and he didn’t even flinch. The problem Joshua has is, if he doesn’t stop Ngannou, he will get hit and If Ngannou learns how to finish Joshua will be in serious trouble. Joshua points for me but I wouldn’t rule out Ngannou stopping him.
Dude, Joshuamania is over, he’s not that guy any more, Wilder Ngannou is a better sell. So no it wouldn’t be a historical fight and there is no comparison between AJ and Ali so using “Rumble in the Jungle” 2 as a tagline is offensive.
Some are saying that Ngannou's output was low so therefore he won't be able to beat top heavyweights. Aside from the fact that Ngannou has big power and can take opponents out with one shot, the problem is that Fury is the best heavyweight I've seen at lowering the output of the opponent with his range, feints, movement and domination of the clinch. According to Compubox, Ngannou threw 231 punches over 10 rounds, which is as many as ATG Wlad threw against Fury over 12. And while Ngannou stood up to Fury well in the clinches, he'll have a much easier time in that regard with most heavyweights.
Big Francis hhas certainly thrown the cat amongst the pigeons. Tbh I don't know what I think until I see ngannou fight again, I can see all opinions on this one as its unknown in a way why what happened on satdee actually happened. Could be 1) fury underestimated ngannou or just underperformed as we've seen him do before 2) fury's on the slide a bit lifestyle catching up etc 3) or ngannou is just a tank of a fella whose gonna be a handful for anyone. Gonna go with the last one for now. After rewatching again I'm not sure fury was actually that terrible, he did what he does it a lot of fights, the big thing for me was that he couldn't seem to put a dent at all in ngannou, that seemed to spook him along with feeling ngannou power early, he didnt look as confident trading or mauling as he wasn't the stronger man for once. If ngannou can take AJs power and get on him AJs gonna have a mare
"If ngannou can take AJs power and get on him AJs gonna have a mare" That won't be a problem. AJ's terrified to set his feet and bang for fear of getting hurt and gassing out. Exhibit A: Ruiz 2. Exhibit B: Franklin. Neither of those guys offered anything like the threat of Ngannou, who is much bigger and stronger than Joshua (1.5 inches shorter but 1 inch more reach and 35 lbs heavier ripped).
