Captures a nice description of prime Tyson, rare these days as they usually focus on the rubbish he did post prison. As time goes on I think what he did in those early years will eclipse his post prison career, it reflected his mentality I guess but prime Tyson was a different animal as a fighter. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/38050519
Yeah I know the feeling, kids now see Tyson as a past great from yesteryear lol. Reminds me of when i started finding out about Ali as a kid!
No need for time to go by, Tyson did infinitely more first career. Post prison isn't a patch on his first instalment.
His post prison career dents his legacy though, its impossible for it not to. It gives detractors plenty of ammo to label him a weak minded bully etc. Which is rubbish but many cant seem to separate the two versions of tyson. That's why i think as time goes on it's clearly apparent tyson lost a lot after prison
Ahhhhhh now i get you. On the flip side will the differences in Tyson possibly get more obscured as time goes on? Maybe you are right.
If fans cant see the greatness of Tyson by now and how he changed the outlook of boxing in the ring and popularity they aren't fans they are idiots and need to be this......
Maye he lost a lot but nothing particularly bad happened to him in the ring after prison until he was downright old anyway. Apart from embarassing himself with the ear bite thing, perhaps. Came out of prison in 1995, destroyed WBC champion Frank Bruno in 1996, WBA champion Bruce Seldon surrendered his belt without a fight out of sheer fear I guess ........ before losing twice to Holyfield, an all-time great. Tyson's next loss was 2002 against Lewis, also regarded as an all-time great. Tyson didn't do an awful lot after prison stint, but he didn't get beat up by anyone who wasn't great, not until 2004 against Danny Williams, at age 38.
