Oh that must have given you SUCH a tremendous amount of pride watching your C o o n e y stopping an aging shell who still gave him a fight. Probably felt the same way about Lyle and Norton too I'd think. Well I wasn't convinced and won half a thousand after Larry waxed his a r s e paying my bills for two months.
Question: why did your 'wannabe' take TWO years off after Holmes? He fought gamely and should have stepped right back in the ring six months later and been the #1 contender again in no time. Not to be.
Many fighters have talent but many talented fighters have nothing under the 'ol left t i t. P i s s on C o o n e y, merely an afterthought as to great fighters or, in his pathetic case, potentially great fighters.

right on cobra, Jimmy did a great job for a guy who couldn't see. I saw this fight as a great opportunity for Young to get back where he belonged in the heavyweight picture. Such a shame he got cut like that, but he did very good in that fight while it lasted. Gerry was from my home town, and I was the only guy I knew rooting for Young. What was funny ****ey, who I really liked, was that he always seemed to pick on aging fighters. He came back and picked on another one, George Foreman. That was the most beautiful slow motion KO I've ever seen, almost comical

****ey did not pick on old fighters. His managements sole goal was a championship million dollar payday. They left little to chance.

Fighters fight. Managers and promotors pick fights.

And the boxer either excepts the fight his team makes, or doesn't, he did, so he picked them

And? Do you not have the ability to put two things together? Young can be past prime and still cruise against C00ney you know, as he did until cut.

I would have said Young "was doing it easy", and he was. He was boxing smoothly, slipping blows comfortably, throwing a few counters and never in trouble at all in the early going. He was quite cute in there.

Couldn't agree more, let the 'big boy' fight over the hill former fine contenders to pad his record and get the Holmes fight which I (already mentioned) won $500 on. And C o o n e y didn't fight again for two frigging years!!! What was that all about?...stop...I know the answer, he had talent but no left t I t! He's merely an afterthought IMO...

Sorry JT ,being kind I gave Young the 2nd round, that's it ,and I watched the fight this morning. Tony Perez ,the thirdman did a sh*t job, he should have cautioned Young about his low punches and rescued him in the last round.

I agree, if you wanted to be generous you might give Young the 2nd round,he threw a lot "south of the border," and the referee should have rescued him long before the last round was over.

All good. I didn't have Young ahead or anything but i saw nothing to make me feel he was going to be stopped anytime soon. By doing it easy i mean in no trouble up until the cut. He looked extremely comfortable in there. The cut was opened in the third and it was obviously all ****ey after that tho Young gamely gave it a bit of a go. So basically a round each prior to the cut i guess.

Don't get me wrong, a valid punch caused the cut but i would have loved to have seen the outcome without it. Would have been an interesting tussle i think. He'd never been stopped on a cut before.
